What did /m/ think about MS Saga?

It's a pretty bog-standard JRPG, but with Gundam. Fans can enjoy it for what it is, but otherwise it's just another JRPG. It was good enough to finish, which is more than I can say for a lot of JRPGs, but I have the bias of being a Gundam fan.

I was also annoyed that you can get the VSBR, but not the F-91 itself. I was also a little annoyed that by the time you get the Nu Gundam it's already not worth keeping its shoulders equipped, and the ones that are completely better stats-wise are ugly.

Not much of a fan of the genre, right? Welcome to the club.

A fun little make your own Gundam rpg, but the Breaker series completely replaces it in terms of customization now.

As generic as the plot was for the game, I enjoyed the first plot arc of the game where you are hunting down the Dark Army with the aid of Eisengrad army. A lot of the dungeons and story points after that (With exception to the Africa Base and maybe the Giant G System) were a bit of a slog and droll to go through.

I finished it, but I have to say it was a chore for most of the second half. Enemy encounters out of the ass, weird formations that can devastate your whole team in a single turn (like Shield Zaku Kais + anything with Sniping), the grinding (for money and exp). A lot of things.

The most annoying thing was the money. Everything is costly as fuck, and you get so l i t t l e m o n e y from battles that you'll probably be lv. 50 before you can buy every weapon.

By the end of the game, the only viable strategy is to load a ton of guns on your two ranged specialists, and have the other character heal. Use the attack that fires all guns at once and repeat.

Kinda wish I would have known about them on my first play through, would have made clearing some of the dungeons far more simple.

I never had the chance to play it or even knew about it until a couple years ago.

Would anons recommend it? I'm not really a big fan of JRPGs as a whole, but did love the shit out of Front Mission..

I'm assuming the battle system is more like Final Fantasy-style turn based bullshit rather than the "strategic" take on turn based combat offered by FM, etc, FFTactics, etc.

What is the strongest possible combination of parts in this game?

I thought it was a pretty fun game, but after a while, the difficulty spiked pretty hard, and I got tired of grindan. Never did finish it.
