G Gundam is one of like three things where I'd genuinely recommend the dub.

The dub is corny, awkwardly emoted, and absolutely fucking perfect for the tone the series sets. Its basically a b-grade martial arts series with giant robots, and those are almost always best experienced with terrible dubs.

They don't know that EG only does encoding. He doesn't do any translations himself, he sources the subs from elsewhere. From where exactly.. I don't know, but he usually tries to get the best possible sources. His release of ZZ Gundam was updated to include the more accurate Daisuki subtitles rather than random HK crapsubs, for example.

Desuarchive's /m/ section has a gap in it's history when RX782 (the guy who did the EG encodes) would be posting threads updating the status of his G Gundam encodes, so no help there. There's no more information on nyaa.se either.

The EG release is currently the best release until the BDs hit in September. They use the R2J for video and audio, plus the R1 for dub and sub audio.

The dub audio is manually recut to the R2J, so there's a *chance* it'll sync up to the BD, if the timings are identical.
