>>
>>14661582
Yes. You are right.
That's why it got just plamos, no gjallhorn wank like many other AUs.
>>
>>14661582
It is, but 4chan likes to badmouth everything.
>>
>>14661582
I don't remember /m/ saying that it wasn't popular (Though there most definitely have been people who have claimed that), just that it wasn't a good show.
>>
No one said it wasn't popular, dickbutt. Just that it's boring shit.
>>
>>14661582
Wait, is that thing almost 100$ for a 10 cm model?
Damn that's expensive
>>
>>14661582
>Gundam show gets kits of something other than big robots
Of course it's going to be popular simply by virtue of being different.
Heck, even I thought Mobile Workers were a cool idea, and then the show barely used them.

Ah crap, it's Megahouse?

Gunpla has done well, disk sales has been mediocre, ratings are awful and opinion is mixed

Haven't seen evidence either way if character merch has done well
>>
>>14664050
I honestly enjoyed the series' push toward giving its mechs a bunch of melee weapons that aren't beamshit, just wish it had more action overall.

Also the idea of replacing parts on the mechs and refurbishing captured stuff from battles was a nice touch.

Maybe season 2 will be better with the Kudelia bullshit resolved.

>>14661582
The show is extremely popular, a lot of /m/ just desperately wants it to not be because they're butthurt a different show they like wasn't as big a hit or are just being contrary faggots as usual.

>inb4 hurr durr ratings
You realize they don't include streaming, right? The thing that IBO is known to be a breakout hit on?

"Extremely" is a huge overstatement.

>>
>>14665338
This mouse thing, the mobile worker, were all just announcd recently. If anything all this additional non gunpla merc coming out so late after the show means they are trying to catch up to meet demand.
>>
>>14665661
No it doesn't, even the most nothing seasonal garbage gets merch. Hell shows doing badly like Age can get a lot of gunpla, 34 HGs is a decent amount.

You actually have to demonstrate something is selling. That's why no one takes sales on stuff seriously unless you get numbers, which is also how we know the ibo gunpla did well cause derringer
>>
>>14665688

Actually AGE's gunpla was coming off good sales from 00 and Unicorn, and its failure shocked Bandai to the point where they've been more concious.
>>
>>14665694
>coming off good sales
And so has IBO, there was also significant push behind the show (there was a thread with a nip anon talking about it, may still be up) which was also pretty obviously going for fujos.

I would like to see data on how none gunpla merch sells, but the closest we ever get is images of stuff pilling up and not selling
>>
>>14665715
We have numbers for the overall merchandising line each year, although it's not separated by series, just Toys & Hobby and then numbers in general.

Those images are inherently misleading though. A pile of product can mean something isn't selling, or it's selling enough to be restocked. If you want to know for sure you'd need to go to a Japanese hobby store and ask the guy over the counter.

Dude if the shit was not selling, they wouldn't be announcing more of the same.

Why do you think s2 is happening? Obviously because the merchandise sales are justifying the funding.
>>
>>14665752
I thought it was because Jappos have shit tastes and wouldn't know a good show if it Shining Fingered their piehole.
>>
>>14665720
Exactly, it ain't exactly good at telling us what has actually done well

>>14665733
I didn't say it was a good way, just one of the best of a lot of bad ways. Plus when those pictures are taken it is usually with a reduced price sign

>>14665752
So I guess Age's gunpla sold really well cause it got 34 HG kits. No, it ain't that simple. Plus from what we actually have the only thing doing well is the gunpla
>>
>>14665715
>And so has IBO, there was also significant push behind the show

This is largely untrue, merchandise push for non gunpla stuff started during the middle of and after the show ended. Its almost as if no one wanted to make product for it and then realized oh shit this show is making money we better make shit.

>>14665766

If you're talking about Moononymous, he's a shitposter and a liar. He's got a history of making crap up on /m/.
>>
>>14665760
Starting with AGE Bandai tried to time its model kit releases with the episode it aired. All those models were planned fom the start to be released. And it backfired. Age contributed to the establishment of p bandai as a cost recooperating device where they could send obscure shit to be made or in more recent years, variants of popular items that have Bandai can control the revenue from to put back into funding new projects.

No one will properly admit it, but AGE was a giant flop for sunrise and bandai covered it by Unicorn.

>>
>>14665760
>Plus from what we actually have the only thing doing well is the gunpla

This is clearly untrue based on all this other stuff thats just bring announced as product now
>>
>>14665760
>So I guess Age's gunpla sold really well cause it got 34 HG kits. No, it ain't that simple. Plus from what we actually have the only thing doing well is the gunpla

You're not quite understanding. Bandai started off with a large amount of AGE kits because the previous Gunpla lines sold beyond their expectations. They assumed the popularity rise would continue so put out a more elaborate AGE line and when AGE crashed and burned they had to cut back and cancel stuff. Hence why a bunch of mid and late-series mobile suits never got HGs, and why prototype MGs of the AGE-3 and FX were quietly cancelled.
>>
>>14665760
Age's gunpla did not sell well. Thats why prototypes of the mg age-3 and mg age-fx were swept under the rug quietly.
>>
>>14661582
its just one guy with disbelief that the show did well at all.

Its this guy>>14665715
136
>>
>>14665797
Proving my exact point, a show having merch isn't as simple as the show doing well

For all we know
>They assumed the popularity rise would continue
Is as applicable to IBO. They bought a really good time slot, had a lot of advertising and pushed it over seas.

>>14665812
Yet they still made a lot only giving up properly at the shows end, that doesn't contradict my point. Saying it has lots of merch is not a way to say it is certainly all doing well
>>
>>14665797
Early on there were also plans for a MG Gafran (no prototype ever shown off though).

And the MG Age-3 and -fx weren't exactly cancelled, they were never officially announced in the first place. At the point the prototypes were shown off AGE was over and cemented as unpopular. Bandai made a couple quick prototypes to show off at gunpla expo in order to gauge interest to see if there was demand for them and there was no official date or price (not even a "tbd") on the display. They do things like this occasionally with showing off quick prototypes and linearts for possible releases. Like the teaser for wing RG or the collage of RE100 under consideration.
>>
>>14665824
The point isnt it has lots of merc the point is they are still making new merc
>>
>>14665836
>the point is they are still making new merc
Because the show is still going on with a new season in less than 2 months
>>
>>14665836
I've addressed this exact thing, that point I quoted even addresses what you said. You have nothing unless you can get something that says we made this new merch after the series doing so well you have no argument
>>
>>14665839
The amount of time between seasons makes me really worry how bad the animation will get
>>
>>14665869
This isn't like Try where it was unplanned and they had to go through all the steps of production, writing, casting, etc in half a year. This was planned from the start and was already in production while the first series was airing.

And outside of key frames most animation is done towards the end of production and typically continues as the show airs. The entire series is not typically fully animated before the first episode airs and each episode may actually only be completed a couple weeks before the air date. This is fairly standard in the industry.

Plus they replaced the animation director.
>>
>>14665927
And making it a split season is actually better than just making it 4 cours as it gives the staff a small break and time to catch up and work on it more.
>>
>>14665927
>Plus they replaced the animation director.

Is that confirmed? Thank god, maybe there's hope for IBO S2 yet.
>>
>>14667547
Did you even watch the preview? It's going to be the exact same shit all over again.
>>
>>14661582
is there a scale that will be a new gunpla?
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8tHqYrzf34

I dunno, looks decent enough?
>>
>>14668127

Everyone was really hyped for IBO when the PVs and the first episode aired. I'm more cautious now.
>>
>>14667914
It's a completed figure from MegaHouse that's like $100 and IIRC is like 1/48 or 1/35 scale.
