Captain Earth.

The main cast and their interactions are great fun, and a bunch of the mecha fights are cool. Unfortunately, they kind of piss away the main plot in the most horrifying way you can imagine and it ends up with another BONES ending.

Like, Captain Earth is almost up there with E7:AO when it comes to "Why the fuck would you think this was a good writing decision? In what world is that a satisfying resolution to a plot, ANY plot?"

Its a show that had good points that can be enjoyed, but its really hard to recommend because of its major flaws.

Which is a shame, because the parts it gets right it got REALLY right.

Oh come on, it's not as bad as AO. LIke you said, it's hard to recommend but the first season is great and the second still has worthwhile parts. The only really retarded parts are the rainbow crew episodes (which are usually salvageable), SALTY DOG and the last twist, which at least finish off with that beautiful tragic ending.

Worth it for delicious brown, logical mahou shoujo, the main cast of characters, basically every mecha design in the show, the music, the fights, Teppei being a bro with actual personality, the porn, and all the little magical things that BONES manages to bring. It's not a "good" show if you're super concerned with the plot but if you can look past those flaws and get through the part that drags a little then it'll still be a good memory to have.

Watching that in full 720p or 1080p is something to behold. Best piece of stock footage ever. And it changes depending on which of the Impactors is expanding. Seriously, even if you drop it, you might as well watch a few episodes just to see this every time.
