Humans are a special managed to take Shin down, so why not change into what defeats you and become better? He's merely adapting to his new environment, so if they make a Direct sequel to Shin, don't be surprised to see an actual talking Godzilla/Godzillanoid.

But that's not adapting to humans, that's adapting to what humans do with their tools/weapons. For instance the blood coagulant, he evolves to freeze his own body so that he doesn't go into meltdown. And his size already deals with the environment, going smaller and more limber would be advantageous if he needed to do so. But he doesn't, with his size nothing humans toss at him is really a problem but going smaller makes him far weaker.

I just don't buy that he's evolving to become humanoid because of our actions, after all, he had the fucked up fleshy tail when he first reemerges from the water. Before we really have a chance to do anything to him, why would he had humanoid features in his tail at that point when we're insignificant specks?

He tries at the end of the film though, why else would he attempt to "spread" himself after is 4th form was defeated?

We saw that he could evolve into his next form in a very short time span, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that he decided that "Human(s)" are a better option for his survival, rather than a 118 meter form, that is cumbersome, and has been defeated.

Again, it wouldn't surprise me if they made a SHIN2 and manage to revive one of these "Godzillanoids", and get it to talk. This could lead into a inner conflict between the newly formed "Godzillanoids" having their own minds after being separated from the many body.
We simply don't know, and that's the best part of the movie.

I don't think it's either of these. It's stated that Shin can reproduce asexually and that was what the tail skull represents, its next evolution never reached in the film would have probably been it splitting into two Godzillas. The tiny more humanoid skeletons were it reacting to being frozen, a desperation move in which it was trying to make as many duplicates as possible to get away from and survive its killers, with the lingering shot on the tail shown meant to imply the hell that would have been in store for mankind had we not succeeded in freezing him, a swarm of Godzillas. The reason they look more humanoid is almost certainly because A) Anno loves the aesthetic of lanky humanoid horrors, and B) because they probably looks like whatever shin's skeleton actually looked like at the evolution level he was currently at, under all that charred blubber. Had he attempted to spawn mini-Shins at an earlier level, the skeletons would have probably looked more reptilian.
It doesn't seem to be assimilating anything, this creature is known for a fact not to need to eat, only needed to be supplied with water and oxygen to survive and thrive. It has no motive for assimilation because it has no need for protein or genetic information, its own already supplies all its needs.
It doesn't seem to be imitating anyone, unless Anno's pulling some expanded setting plot like NGE where humans/the human form are more important than they really are, the humanoid shape is just something of its own growth path, and the skeletons would probably only look humanoid temporarily as their soft tissues grow in and a more definite physical form is achieved.

In defense of the humanoid form being important, though, it is quite obvious that as Shin evolved, its torso, arms and shoulder areas began adopting more humanoid qualities when compared to its previous forms, and an unseen fifth stage probably would have had a fully functional arm assembly, making me curious as to why.

Shin appears to be a natural event in this setting, I don't think human hands were behind it, but that does feel like the metaphor Anno would go for. Honestly I don't think putting too much emphasis on the importance of why they're humanoid is the right way of going about this, Anno's preferred monster is long, lanky humanoids so it's reasonable he'd wedge them in somewhere. I think it's more important to think about why it was the final shot of the film, and why the tail that originally only had a face now has many smaller creatures emerging from it is the final shot of the film. That transition from a single, definite new entity existing at the end of the tail to several smaller but more distinct entities being born from its location is important enough to have attention brought to it, why?

I figure he'll probably like it and the only things he might be a bit dismissive about are the parts that don't really translate well with a non-Japanese audience. Honestly, I think it'd be better if the Japanese themselves subtitled the English release. Their translation and transcription still needs some native English editorial fixing, but their home-made English subtitles for things like the various Ultraman movies and Toei's strict streaming-only English sub of the entire Hokuto no Ken series were surprisingly competent compared to most crab sticks subs. Hell, even the crab sticks subs have improved in the last decade. They just need a native English speaker and writer to proofread their subs for syntax/grammatical/spelling errors and whatnot.

This is something I never understood about CG films

Sure, a shot may have to get rushed to be done in time for the cinema and it'll look crap

But why don't the studios tighten up those shots for bluray/etc while they still have all the artists at their disposal and while they're still focused on the film, sure they'll have to pay the artists to work on it for a few weeks more but they've already put so much money to do the film, why not do it right?

A really bad shot can ruin the mood of a scene, and once it's final, it cannot be undone

Probably too costly for studios to even consider. They're usually more concerned about the amount of money of they make on the opening and the time their film is in theaters and whether or not it makes up for all the money sunk into production, advertising, etc. They probably already have DVDs/BDs produced before the film is even released, and they probably don't care enough to tweak some weak scenes beyond post when production has wrapped up and they're all set to release and just sit back and wait for the money to roll in.

They don't really care about the quality of the product they're pushing. They know people are stupid and will eat up anything you shit out, so there's no need to put any of the extra effort into it beyond what's usually done. They just have to make sure it's advertised as best as possible and have seeded enough hype through plants and media strategies to recoup any loss they may receive from their product.

From what I can tell, Anno loves his descriptive texts all over the damn place and it's usually at the bottom of the screen. I haven't seen Shin Godzilla raw or anything, but I assume the original version is like that. They likely moved the translated texts to the corner of the screen to make room for the subtitles.
