Fuumina is the perfect example of a realistic woman in the gunpla hobby. She is just there to show how much she is totally a nerd and get attention from the males who care about the hobby. Fumina is pretty much wasted potential, like everything else in Try.

If you look at BF1, you had two main characters who represented two different ideologies. Reiji didn't give a shit about Gundam or gunpla, but he enjoyed gunpla battle. And Sei was terrible at gunpla battle and had minimal interest in it, but he loved gunpla and Gundam.

Fumina could have been either of those. In the beginning she's introduced as loving gunpla battle and gunpla, but she's not really good at either. There was a lot they could have done with her character. Would she be the kind of person who has to become a leader and come up with smart strategies to make up for her lack of building/combat skill? Or would she go for creative builds to get around a lack of piloting ability?

That plus and SSS+ tier hot character design was why there were oceans of porn of her. But then all the fanart fell off because in the end her character turned out to be basically nothing but revolving around Sekai's cock, and that's boring. And when a character's personality is that dull and unappealing, even the porn stops, and even the character design can't redeem her except in the eyes of the most shallow breed of waifunigger who only requires that the character be hot, and then they project a personality onto her(like Shiafags, which is why Shia is also garbage).

And this kind of applies to every single character. Every character in Try has potential to be interesting, but is just this huge fucking nothing. Heck, by the end of Try I was legitimately cheering for Adou because he was one of THREE characters in the entire series who seemed to actually just want to have fun.

Okay, let's see... we have Sekai being a far better protagonist than the temperamental prince Reiji. He might be clueless around the girls, but he has a viable excuse for that compared to Reiji, who lacks an excuse entirely. Sekai enters Gunpla Battle both as a way of getting stronger without harming his opponents with a "real" fight, and also to have fun--unlike Reiji, who couldn't even understand the appeal until someone spelled it out for him. He's a graceful loser, whereas Reiji didn't give a shit until Tatsuya handily beat him. He takes advice from his opponents seriously and uses it to get stronger--even if it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be able to defeat them in a rematch. His interest in the hobby starts up a lot sooner compared to Reiji's. Let's not forget in battle that he was a lot more varied than just Build Knuckle everywhere--and really, despite how much more realistic Build Knuckle's depiction was, it only weakened their opponents because they NEVER. TRIED. TO NEGATE IT. For all y'all's complaints about using the same attack every time, you sure don't appreciate Try going out of its way to avoid it.

Oh, how about Fumina and Kaoruko and Shia and Mirai? They didn't get into Gunpla just so they could be closer to their respective crushes. They were already in the hobby and Sekai changed nothing in that regard. Can't say that about China or Aila, even if I did like how China was shown to develop a respect for her crush's hobby while retaining her own. Sure, Aila was on the Gunpla scene long before Reiji entered her life... but she had no love of the sport until Reiji entered her life.

On top of that, Sekai, Fumina, and Yuuma all have their own clear paths for development explored over the course of the story--Sekai with the interest in the hobby of Gunpla,

Fumina in finding her own strength, and Yuuma in gaining the confidence needed to play the sport effectively--whereas in GBF, most development was focused on Reiji, with Sei, the other half of the protagonist duo, being little more than an enabler and a reactionary for that development, gaining very little of his own beyond "think outside the box" and "stop worrying about breaking your toys".

GBFT also lowered the scale for the sake of its cast. They weren't going from the lowest of low straight to the very pinnacle of what they could achieve, unlike Reiji and Sei. Oh, and how about the supporting cast, eh? They end up becoming allies sooner than they do in GBF, and they actually contribute, too! Whereas in GBF, the only person who could really be considered a real helper was Fellini with his training Reiji, whereas Mao, Nils, etc... didn't really accomplish anything after they were befriended post defeat? Whereas we have Mirai looking out for Sekai, Fumina, and Yuuma's health, getting them to relax and take breaks... Kaoruko and Simon helping Sekai train and aiding him in learning the ropes of building Gunpla... even Junya and Minato was more of a help to the team after their defeats compared to Mao and Nils!

Seriously, GBF merely set the groundwork. Try refined it.
