It's not. There's still Zoids model kits coming out for oldfags. As for why there's no new material, TakaraTomy is just shit at making use of (both) their old properties.

Another original property from TOMY is Hikarian, that Japanese train mecha series from the late 90s. Japan has a big nostalgia boner for it.

They have a plethora of motorized/radio controlled mecha toys from the early 90s onwards and are still churning out more, Gagan Gun is the latest rendition https://youtu.be/VQHaH6adT3E

TOMY also sponsored and made toys for random stuff like the Giant Robo tokusatsu, Ideon, Rayearth and the Eldoran series. Bandai steered clear of these and Takara's sponsorships for the longest time as a courtesy until the mid 2000s when they went "fuck it" and started including them in games and grown-up toylines
