Modern anime doesn't do the same thing. They can't because they use fucking CGI to render everything, and thus can't mess up proportions.

I'm truly amazed how delusional fans of "traditional" animation can be. Tablets, digital coloring and CGI do not make things bad by itself, people do so. Let's compare IBO and Bubuki Buranki for example: IBO is handdrawn and looks like shit, but bbk/brnk done in full CGI and looks fucking great. Quality depends not on instruments, but on skill and effort of animators.
