So the actual Shin version of Getter G was only in Ark, incubating in the Earth since the Shin Getter manga,, the Daikessan videogame just had an evolved version of Getter Dragon that was called Shin Dragon but could use Liger and Poseidon's weapons, OVA Shin Dragon is a cross between that one Hyakki Beast Empire dragon mech and the regular three forms of Getter G, and Metal Beast Dragon that Saotome, Stinger and Choen use is just an evil version of Getter Robo G made from Shin Dragon's cells?

Okay so I started reading the Getter Robo mangas last night. Currently going through Shin Getter Robo, am I ready for any of the OVAs and stuff?
Also do I have to read Arc? The downloads on getterrobo.blogspot.com look like a real hassle.

It resolves mostly everything from Go and Shin, but yes it does also create new questions.

Alright, so I'm completely new to this series and I just watched the first episode of the 70's anime. This doesn't seem as cool as what I've seen of the OVAs or heard about it, so did I choose the wrong starting point? Would it be better if I just read the manga, or should I keep watching the anime? The opening theme song is pretty great.

The 70s anime is pretty much your average super robot show from the 70s. If you like shows like that then watch that if not thats a bad start.

Manga and anime are separate continuities as are the OVAs.
Manga is the best starting point but if you don't want to read the manga then watch (New Gettter Robo)
