This is fantastic. A robot with PTSD flashbacks. We get to see Reinhardt in the Omnic Crisis. Not a line of dialogue. This is really great storytelling.

You do see decent Bastion players occasionally. They're extremely rare, but they do exist. Really, the important thing is for Bastion to pick unexpected locations and regularly reposition, so the enemy team never knows where he's going to shoot from. If you just park yourself right in the middle of the objective and simply sit there waiting to shoot everything that moves, you're trash like 99% of the other Bastion players out there. And as a Roadhog main, I appreciate the free kills.

I only play Bastion occasionally, but beating Genji is easy as fuck if you have half a brain. Which would probably explain why most Bastions have trouble with him. Bait out his deflect and he's helpless.

Except a Genji that also has half a brain (which is rare admittedly) will dash away if Bastion doesn't take the bait and go back some other time or just pelt the stationary target with shurikens. It's not the hard counter it looks like at first, but Genji definitely has the advantage.

It take place near Numbani, and during the flashback it's not the crusader but overwatch soldier. So it's probably Rein we see

the lore and the game might as well be two seperate entities. Specially because Overwatch doesnt have a Campaign mode or anything. Just watch the animation shorts and maybe follow the comics. The game is fun, but you need friends to play with to make it exceptional.

The actual Overwatch gameplay is totally disconnected from the lore. Why would you have good guys and bad guys on the same team, or good guys fighting other good guys? Or multiple copies of the same person?

The lore is just background information to give the characters and locations more flavor, but unless we get some sort of story mode gameplay, the matches are all 100% non canon.

Say what you will about the Omnics, their bots are sturdy. This Bastion had dirt and moss caked in and on him for ten years, with zero maintenance and upkeep.

Yet he moved just fine, even the transformation to turret form didn't have any hitches.

Christ the company Blizzard hires to do these videos is good at effects, the models are nothing to write home about but the moss and grass on Bastion was GOAT.
The day Japanese animation looks like this I'll happily forget 2D animation.

This is definitely the best short for Overwatch they've put out.

It's actually a special company Blizzard created to make their cinematics back with Diablo 2, IIRC.
And it's not like Japan couldn't make this kind of 3D (just look at the astonishing CGI cutscenes which have been the staple of Final Fantasy for ages) but it takes massive amount of effort (time) as well as money.
Even the top dogs like Pixar only make movies up to 2 hours long.
A typical anime series of 24 episodes is roughly 8 hours of footage.

It is the same as with 2D. The more time they, the more money they can spend and the shorter the result is, the better it looks.
