>the first CG anime
>the American capeshit comic attempt
>now this
Why do they keep trying to make Cyborg 009 more realistic? It worked fine enough with Astro Boy but
1. those designs weren't generic "serious anime" designs
2. Astro Boy's universe lends itself better to that
One of the lead characters of Cyborg 009 is a talking baby genius that floats around with a pacifier in his mouth and promotes race mixing. You can remove the zanier elements from Astro Boy like the anal refueling or ass machine guns but you can't make Cyborg 009 not feel ridiculous in a bad way when executing it this way.

The what now

/pol/ has failed as a containment site.

Nice boogeyman paranoia but I actually agree with most of that manga's politics and don't care about racial purity at all. I just thought it was funny how it was coming from the mouth of such a cartoony character. Not funny in a "ugh STUPID" way mind you but in a charming way.

Yeah it exists http://cyborg009.wikia.com/wiki/Cyborg_009_(Graphic_Novel)
It honestly looks better stylistically than the anime attempts at making it more realistic along with also being far more visually appealing than the great majority of burgerspurdo cape but it still feels unfitting compared to the original style.

Really it feels like the 2000s were a golden age in terms of adapting cartoony old manga in accurate styles. Kikaider, Astro Boy, Cyborg 009, Black Jack (ok the latter was not very good but design wise it did a good job).
That and I would've preferred to see the this arc in anime form without the changes; a talking brain controlling the haunted house, along with them accidentally killing him and just going "whoops", added some fitting dark comedy to the scene that the anime lacked. But hey beggars can't be choosers.

Oh and Getter also had the most visually manga-accurate show back then.
>that awful suit design
>002 getting butchered again
009 vs Devilman was damn near perfect, why are we going back to the CG style?

>009 vs Devilman was damn near perfect, why are we going back to the CG style?
Cyborg 009 vs Devilman was by Jun Kawagoe and Actas, who did the other Go Nagai stuff.
This one is by the RE: staff.

>009 vs Devilman was damn near perfect
Cyborg 009 vs Devilman did it better than the CG bullshit but it's still a downgrade compared to the 2000s anime designs which are really just the manga designs.

What really bothers me about VS Devilman is that they kept the cartoony designs for a lot of characters EXCEPT 007. 006 is practically unchanged aside from some very minor shifts in proportions, 002 and Dr. Gilmore's weird noses are there, the thugs in Devilman look silly... I don't understand why 007 had to be changed so much.

>2000s
Even then, 008/Pyunma's design got altered from the manga/60s/70s series, since it was considered unintentionally offensive by that point.

Oh yeah I was gonna point it out but I forgot. Still, it's understandable; changing 007 so radically doesn't really make much sense when everyone else kept their cartoony facial proportions.
