F91 Gundam

I was just going to make thread about this, as I recently watched it.

It's such a disappointment, you can see where show plot lines and character growth would go. I thought the conflict was intriguing and the characters, what we got of them, could be interesting in a longer show. I thought the mecha designs were pretty unique as well, I quite liked the Rafflesia.

Now, from what little I know of Crossbone Gundam, it's a sequel correct? Is that worth checking out?

Just remember that Crossbone is done by someone who had no part in F91. It's totally different and honestly I don't think it's a good sequel at all. However, it does its own thing and it's fun. It just happens to use some of the same characters and universe and sometimes the F91.

The later sequels that lead to Victory's time have yet to be translated.

Crossbone is very different from other UC entries, but I find them immensely fun, and there's some great fights and suit designs in it.

By the time of Zeta it was just the "Jupiter Energy Fleet", and at some point later they secretly rechristened themselves the Jupiter Empire. Since Jovians have to manufacture all of their scarce resources, they want the Earth and its plentiful resources for themselves. Specifically, they want to nuke it into the ground, then mine the entire thing like an asteroid, forcing the rest of humanity to adopt a similar perspective as the Jovians, without the Earth as a safety net any longer. They're not all like that though, mainly just their Palpatine-esque insane leader.

To be more specific, Crossbone is to F91 what Zeta, or even ZZ, is to First Gundam. The Cosmo Babylonia civil war would've been to F91 what Soldiers of Sorrow and Encounters in Space were to the first Mobile Suit Gundam film, the second two thirds of the series.

I compare First/Zeta to F91/Crossbone not only because of the time gap, but also due to the radically different tone.

You make it sound like the Ghost detects enemy Mobile Suits with sound, but I think the Ghost itself detects its surroundings using cameras like any other MS, it's just that that visual data has to be fed to Rothko as audio.

They're almost like the UC's version of After War's Category F. Although, I thought at one point one of them tried to convince us that they weren't Newtypes, that it was literally magic or psychic powers or something.
