In a way, I can understand why Kamille was lobotomized. A newtype MC with an entire series' worth of combat experience combined with the firepower of the Double Zeta would've made quick work of Neo Zeon, especially after the upgrades. Therefore, Kamille had to be taken out in order to preserve the plot.
