Start with Mebius, it's an anniversary series that basically gives you a crash course on Ultraman main timeline series through guest appearances of old Ultras while being completely accesible.

If you want to watch something more serious watch Nexus, it's closer to the spirit of the early Heisei Riders. But keep in mind it's an unusual series.

Tiga, X and the original are also good starting points.

There's Orb currently being aired, it's good so far and also accesible, but it's doing a few things differently from the classic.

It was 2013 and I was getting into toku(more actively at least since before that I watched PR, Kabuto and Faiz but wasnt interested into tackling the rest) so I was downloading like shit then. I saw Overtime was doing Ginga so I got into it and the retsuden. It took me a while to "get" it since I was expecting pretty much another Kamen Rider show, Ginga is also low budget and didn't know about the old kaiju shilling aspect of it(I swear, I was once about to ask /m/ why some of the monster designs looked like they were old). I didn't like Ginga but then I found out even ultrafags here didn't like it, so I tried the Zero movies, Leo and Tiga, all of which I liked(although Leo's middle is kinda bad and the ending makes little sense). I still kinda new since after that I only watched Ginga S, X, Orb(as they aired) and Nexus.

I watched the first episode of Ultraman. It was adorable. All the little spaceships and missiles and planes, I loved it. They had fifty bucks and a bunch of balsa wood, but by god did they put on a show.
I kinda wanna know the history of the Scientific Special Search Party, considering how they took all that shit in stride. What have they been through, that one of their members, presumed dead, can just show up and say, that lake monster is called Bemular, he's a threat to the peace of Earth! and they just roll with it?
Also, what happens when Ultraman shows up? Does Hayato physically transform into Ultraman? Do they switch places? It showed Ultraman flying in and then flying away, was that just stylistic or is Ultraman somewhere when he's not on screen?

Is it impossible to preview Nexus and Mebius without streaming? I can't find DDLs anywhere and the only torrents are pathetically slow (20 kb/s max).

Is there some sekrit klub for this stuff that I'm not aware of? I tried an xxxklusive tracker I joined eons ago and couldn't find shit.

To be fair, the torrents for older shows like the original or UltraSeven are also very slow, but not TOO slow. The 2000s shows are goddamn impossible to acquire through torrents these days.

I watched the first disc of Ultra Seven and while it did have some great moments and fun wacky ideas, I think I prefer what I've seen of the first show so far simply because it balances human scenes and kaiju scenes much better.

Is the first disc a good representation of what the entire series is like? Because '66 has "high tier showa Godzilla movie"-esque monster scenes pretty often, while it sometimes feels like Seven just sneaks a minute of monster fighting at the very end because it has to. The only one that had a lot of giant monster screen time was the Eleking episode (which is great and Eleking kicks ass).

Particularly sad that the Metron fight was so goddamn short because the set & lighting were fucking beautiful. The Akio Jissoji episodes are definitely the highlight of both shows in terms of cinematography.

I just saw everyone cum over UltraSeven though so I expected it to be full of the craziest shit. And sure monsters like Eleking and Metron are cool but then you have stuff that's only crazy in how comedically ant-climactic it is (even the very first episode is a great example of this).

I definitely want to finish '66 though because holy crap it's absolutely filled with creative zany stuff. A monster with a straw for a tongue that eats pearls? Check. Blind underground people that unleash a giant mole monster upon the earth while having kidnapped the protagonist and trying to brainwash him in a surprisingly atmospherically-directed scene? Check. A kid's drawing coming alive as a hilariously pathetic monster that's only vaguely threatening because he snores too loud? Check check check.
