I don't want to look up the character's name and find an image because I'm worried I'll spoil myself, I'm at Episode 41 now, but I'll have to say that sick—oh, damn, I just tried looking him up and I spoiled a marriage—that sickly kid in Legend of the Galactic Heroes who is obsessed with heroic polymaths and historical figures, and feels bad about not being able to leave a mark on history.

Except I don't have a debilitating illness to explain why I'm so useless. Only crippling self-doubt and the inability to get bored.

I would've liked to come up with an actual mech pilot who has crippling self-esteem issues, but I haven't accomplished anything that I can even compare to mech piloting, in terms of pride.

Although I'm managing the latter much better as I get older, which is either experience or age I suppose. The waifu bit really does do a lot of magic though, which explains why 00AoT's Al is so at peace with everything until shit hits the fan
