It's the MS-04. Basically the MS01 was the mobile worker with a shield, MS-02 was a slightly more armored MW with hands and held weapons on both arms, and MS-03 was slimmer and had an internal compact minovsky fusion reactor (the previous two had larger external reactors). The MS-03 also did not appear in the manga (only mentioned) and did not have a design until the OVA.

MS-04 is basically a more advanced version of the -03 directly meant to test combat and weapons which were refined for mass production in the Zaku I.

Also it bugs me that the OVA version removed the mohawk crest in favor of a generic commander horn.

As a matter of fact, they don't call it a "commander type". As with all of Char's customized MS, the term that's used is "senyou" 「専用」, which translates roughly to "Exclusive Use".

Also, if you check the manga, that MS-05 didn't have an antenna. And, for that matter, it didn't have a belt-fed machine gun or shoulder spikes either. It was more or less a baseline Zaku I painted red, identical in weaponry as the Tri-Stars' units

They actually might, with Origin's MSD timeline. They released the local type which is supposed to bridge the gap between the Gundam and the Ground Type apparently, so I'm guessing they're releasing the Ground GM as part of the MSD line as well, and they might tell us which of the two came first.

The Ground GM and Ground Gundams were in development at about the same time, with the Ground Gundam having input from the Ground GM's progress. The initial plan was to build the Ground Gundams using existing project V parts that would have otherwise been lying around unused, but then they started building Ground GMs as well to supplement the Ground Gundam after there were concerns that there would be too few Ground Gundams in service.

And I understand that, but my original post regarding that the Ground Gundam wasn't the same thing as the Ground GM was a statement to the random faggots who shitpost that the Ground Gundam is just a Ground GM with a Gundam Head, 80% parts commonality does not mean that performance and capabilities are equal between the two suits, just look at the UH-1 Huey (as in ones outfitted as dedicated gunships) and the AH-1 Cobra for a real world example of this, because if both suits had nearly the exact same levels of performance (like the aforementioned faggots like to claim) but the Ground GM was cheaper why would you even build Ground Gundams at all?
