It's a Metroid game in the same way that Star Fox Adventures was a Star Fox game. Good as it may or may not be, no one really asked for it and when it inevitably fails, Nintendo will almost certainly understand it as "Metroid isn't marketable anymore, the series is Smash only now"

Closest thing to Custom Robo that has come out recently was LBX, it wasn't perfect but it scratched the itch.
