And square cube law is all about volume, not mass right? Lighter materials don't make the mech any nimbler if you don't make right proportion for support. There's reason you cannot simply drag a human body and make it bigger mate, you need to adjust their proportions.

Thickness of armour don't meant jack shit if you using super space metal that 100 stronger than your average Abrams steel m8. Why waste space and tonnage when 300mm of Adamantine slab offers you 100 times more protection than 1,500 mm Steel alloy, you can ad 1 or 2 more terminator seat or maybe extra cannon for that.

Also comparing speed of machine that 3 times bigger than Abrams, have 10 times more firepower and act like mobile fortress that can carry power armored troops, with MBT that need to go fast and die when plunged by Ahmed with firecracker is kinda absurd.

Are you familiar with the concept of "equivalent armor in steel"? Hint: RHAe means "rolled homogeneous armor equivalent".
The baneblade has 98mm of spess armor that are equivalent to 300mm of steel, the abrams has (unknown)mm or modern armor that are equivalent to 950mm or steel.
