What if this was mass produced? Would Zeon have won?
Oh hey
Big Zam!
>>14587088
Considering Gihrens Greed doesn't let them capture bases, no.
>>14587088
Did they even have the resources to consider such a thing?
>Requires multiple people to operate.
>Overheating issues.
>Probably takes a fuckload of resources to make just one.
>Still vulnerable to non-beam weapons.
No.
And by this point in the war Zeon was hurting more for trained pilots on the front lines than anything else. Bringing out the next big top brass pet project was not going to fix that.
>>14587088
Depends on how many they mass produce.
It really fucked up those salamises.
However they can get fucked up by GMs swarming them and beam sabering them up close.
>>14587182
I thought it was, given that the idea was to combat the federation's quantity with fewer but more capable units so not as many pilots would be needed
and having multiple big zams would allow them to rotate units in and out to allow the I-field to cool down
>>14587226
That doesn't change the fact that they're just as vulnerable to a GM with a bazooka, which costs less than a fraction to produce. Hell, the production-type Big Zam we know about eliminates virtually all of the advantages of the prototype, including the I-field and most of the weapons. It's essentially reduced to a flightless Apsalus with legs.

The latest and lamest of the memes regarding Big Zam.
>>14587088
>>14587177
They'd have bankrupted themselves utterly trying and failing to mass produce it.
like the bydo in the future the big zam is massproduced then goes back in time and becomes the BETA
here comes dat byg
I don't think Big Zam would be very effective on its own, but if there were three of them at A Baoa Qu rotating in and out of service, with two recharging and one providing cover fire at a time, it would have made a huge difference. But it would have been too little, too late anyway, since Zeon had already basically lost the war once Solomon had fallen.
>>14588159
Part of the reason they lost the war is squandering time and resources on too many different projects, especially their dozen 'war-winning superweapons'.
There's more to Zeon being canon Space-Nazis than their tendency to gas thousands of innocent people.
>>14587088
It take time to set-up a production line, and Char was sent a prototype Gelgoog, which had already been cleared for awhile, so production had already started and with the UMP units a month or three they would have had even if not better chances, if I got that right.

They look like a swarm of insects.
Big Zam was the pinnacle of the dumb strategies that Zeon used at the OWY.
While the Feds were keen on mass producing GMs and deploying Gundams for cirurgical strikes, the Zabis where fighting amonst themselves and devoting resources to wunderwaffes that Amuro was wtfpwning right and left. You can see even in the original show that the RX78-2 was having problems when faced with NUMBERS rather than OMGMOBILEWEAPON.

Frankly, Zeon would never have the capacity, either resource wise or production wise, to really build quality MS in bulk.
>>14597532
Because they had 3 or 4 different mindsets for R&D of equipment. I think they could make quality stuff, just not cheap and in the appropriate quantities needed for the war effort.

By late in war Amuro didn't look like he struggled at all against numbers. What did he kill 12 doms on live TV in side 6. It should be noted, the wonder weapons also really kick up after that episode: Chalia bull's new type stuff, The Big Zam, etc. Zeonic forces were losing on all fronts. There wasn't much the could do against the Trojan Horse by that point in the war it was already too late for numbers and wonder weapons were a desperate gamble. In the end, they kind of pay off with the Zeong (char's piloting helps) finally knocking the gundam out of commission. You should also keep in mind Mobile suits are the original Zeon super weapon, I'd say they worked out very well.

It destroyed huge amounts of feddie ships and jims though
It even killed the biggest chad in the earth sphere
If it had a gelgoog escort it could have been big trouble at A Baoa Qu
