Aside from similar MC, who weren't exactly the most original concept to begin with, Dominion and Patlabor are two different breeds. And considering Early Days debuted a month before Tank Police OVA, I doubt any inspiration was drawn from the Dominion manga for Patlabor.

Please don't start shit between two fan bases that have been getting along in relative harmony, especially on a board as small as /m/.

The Dominion manga predates Patlabor by 3 years. Other characters are also extremely similar, and interact similarly. The fact that they're half-competent/doofuses is also similar.
