I'm thinking of Watching the 2005 gaiking show.
I hear that the DVD release fixed all the animation errors.
does anyone know what the best way to watch this is?
I hear Crunchyroll has them, but that comes with a price from what I can tell.

from what I remember there's a weird aspect ration thing but most media players will straighten that out if you set it manually

sounds somewhat annoying
There are actually some straight-up DVD rips out there that you can apply subs to, and they look better than Crunchy's. Not entirely sure where to get them now, though.

you know at least where the sub files are?

There are three versions of Gaiking subs.
The first are TV-N's on the original broadcast version. These are what are on Youtube. They're fucking terrible and never use them.
There's the Crunchyroll version, which has a torrent (put up like 2/3 years ago as memory serves). It works, runs off the DVDs, and is better than TV-N's fucking terrible release, but the aspect ratio is piss.
There is a third attempt, to sub the show using the better subs with fixes + good widescreen raws of the DVD. Unfortunately, after 13 episodes, the man who was doing it vanished and has never been seen since. (He also did two episodes of Acrobunch and DVDized the first episode of SD Gundam Gaiden's subs, so RIP.)

I am attempting to. It apparently isn't working out all that well.
