Honestly, I never really cared for any of the factions, cause the shows never really make it clear what the hell any of their ideologies are. I just stick to individual characters.

Zeon especially though. The fuck is it that they're fighting for outside of independence? What values do they hold so dear that they'll fight to the brink of destruction for? And that's of course excluding the Zabis' bullshit. What does the average Zeonic citizen want out of life?

While I'd rather take the Federation over Space Nazi Germany, GMs might have had beam guns at a time where they weren't widespread but many were just equipped with shit rifles for cost issues and Zeon definitely puts more effort into developing a wider variety of better machines for their regular soldier.

That's why I was saying I don't remember if he dies in the older GG games and him surviving might just a new thing. The older games might've followed the novel route, to explain better in the new ones near the start of the OYW Char founds his own Neo Zeon and Whitebase defects from the Feds and join his faction, the old ones might've gone the novel route and had his faction start near the end of the war with Amuro dying at A Baoa Qu and Whitebase joining Char after the battle.

If it were properly expanded upon, Cosmo Babylonia. Possibly the first "didn't do anything wrong" opposing faction.

Like I said, if expanded upon. There's no proof that Carozzo wasn't rogue and if anything, evidence strongly suggests that he was since both Dorel and Zabine had no idea what he was doing. Given what little we see of Meitzer, I don't think he is the kind of person who would have ordered the creation of the bugs.

Zeon had trouble producing enough beam weapons as well. First preproduction Gelgoogs were actually available a few months before the end of the war, but they couldn't produce enough beam rifles for them so mass production was stalled. Same thing happened to the Act Zaku, at which point they just went "fuck it, just give them machine guns for now".

Not when it comes to logistics. Zeon had to implement the United Maintenance Plan to standardize on even common-sense things like cockpit controls and layout. Meanwhile, GMs are considered fairly easy to operate, easy enough that space fighter pilots could change over to GMs and they had the advantage of Amuro's learning computer data.

As far as mobile suit variants go, I think that Zeon's Gelgoog Jager is ultimately the most capable production MS of the OYW, but it's not like the Federation doesn't have a shitton of improved variations either.
