I don't think weapon use is a big issue so much as just not liking the design since it looks busy and silly when seen from the back regardless of which mode it's in, but if it can use most of it's weapons in either mode, why even have the transformation in the first place? Why not just use the weapons and ditch the transformation?

Personally I prefer the 1/1.5 Gundam just sticking to the spirits of the originals by giving it some cannons rather than making it look like an update of the Guncannon when transformed and the Gundam the rest of the time.

Because they have different functions. In Cannon mode the Fangs are large high power cannons but they are remote weapons in gundam mode. It's rifle is has a higher output in cannon mode but a faster firing rate in gundam mode. Cannon mode is for heavy artillery while gundam mode is for high speed mixed combat.

00 looks fine. The only issue is the GN drives hanging off the shoulders but it still works, its by no means a "stupid" looking design. Its just silly how they sort of "hang" off so loosely with the shoulders.
