Unless you actually hate Cyborg 009, I don't really see how anyone could hate Cyborg 009 vs Devilman.

Especially after the crap that was God's War.

Into the trash it goes then. This was a Cyborg 009 anime starring Devilman, not the other way round. The anime is called Cyborg 009 vs Devilman, not Devilman vs Cyborg 009.

For a 009 anime, it was superb. the high teen Cyborgs were good fanservice and made numbered Cyborgs relevant again. The dynamics between 007 and 005 were spot on, and pretty much everything else.

What did you expect? We're on /m/. People think Zeta is good and G Reco an unsung masterpiss.

First episode was fantastic, and actually really sold me on the idea that a crossover could work thematically.
Second episode was boring, saved by the expectation that the final episode would be better.
But the third episode was still weak. The billions weren't interesting at all even with all the time the OVA spent on them. And the actual team up between 009 and Devilman was underwhelming because they had no screen time since the first episode, not to mention Devilman wasn't even relevant till the end.

It was really disappointing. I wasn't too big on the crossover idea, but the first episode turned me around completely. But it didn't keep up that consistency, and just becomes a 009 ova with the window-dressing of Devilman.

This OVA felt like a full blown 009 arc and it was satisfying as fuck.

Again, this was a good 009 OVA, and it should be treated as one. Devilman fag opinions don't count, since they viewed it as a Devilman anime. They cheered for the Devilman parts, while totally ignoring the good shit that was on the 009 side.

Not the producer's fault when this OVA was clearly meant for fans of both, not one, or the other.
