Speaking from a personal opinion, voice acting is a very important thing for me. If a favorite voice actor is involved, or if there's a voice actor with an annoying voice or terrible performance it'll usually affect my overall enjoyment of the game.

It won't draw me in, but it's still part of the overall experience for me.

Legend of Daikuumaryu is underrated; it's got some amazing mecha action and the new take on the Gaiking design/lore did a lot to bring the show into its own special mythos. Gaiking the Great had a fantastic debut episode, capping off a fight and utterly wrecking the big bad's dangerous super weapon. Coupled with that Obari combination sequence and a killer theme song and it's just concentrated Super Robot goodness.

As the story goes Gaiking was a last minute replacement to fill up the timeslot after Bobobo got cancelled the problem is that they only had three months to actually develop it hence why its only relationship to Gaiking is the damn title and the fact that it was a production nightmare as it was airing on TV that its a wonder how they managed to come together as it went on and then going back to fix it for the DVDs. Gaiking is a good example of how you can pretty much turn lemons into lemonade .

They actually only use Gaiking the Great three times in the show, and one isn't to fight.

You'd think that would suck, but it actually really helps preserve what a monster the Great is, since it only comes out in situations where they need that much firepower in one place more than they need the three robots in different places. LODM is pretty fantastic about the heroes and villains all thinking tactically.

I like it so far. The biggest thing that tripped me up was that you seem to have a tendency towards really long sentences - some of those could stand to be broken up in editing. Like the second sentence in the third paragraph, about Lamia and drinking, that could probably be cleaned up a bit. (and some minor copy-editing stuff)

Super nitpick: Doesn't Lamia call Kyosuke 'Lieutenant Kyosuke'? I think she does, but can't remember.

I often get flowery in statements, it's true. I'll see what I can do, I usually don't even catch myself in this sort of thing. Though I think at least part of that is depending on where the narration "leans" in terms of who's being focused on, I tried to change up the style a little Excellen's section should read a little less clinical.

It reimagines a number of details about the characters and setting, but for the most part it's accurate on at least a basic level. It does take a lot of liberty with the plots, but that's standard crossover fare.

FMW is what introduced me to Touhou, and I think it did a pretty good job. It's not really a substitute for the main games, but yes, it makes a good introduction, much like regular SRW games do with their licensed shows.

To clarify on the "changing details" bit, it mostly lightens the tone, making Gensokyo seem like a slightly less unpleasant place and making the characters come across as a substantially less despicable. Of course, it helps that the vastly increased amount of dialogue gives them room to develop the characters beyond the standard "snarky belligerent asshole" template that defines 90% of 2hus.

The end result is that the FMW versions of the characters don't come across as completely self-centered assholes, and instead actually seem to care about each other somewhat, and occasionally do things for semi-altruistic reasons. Both of those elements are notably absent from most of their canon portrayals.
