Actually the subarms can fire the weapons on their own without having to hand them back to the main hands. He can be holding and firing 4 bazookas ar once with no issue, and the direct interface allows him a finer degree of control and faster aim adjustment as well.

To be fair, the FA Gundam being armed to the teeth was also it's glaring weakness, what with its power packs all stacked up behind the head unit. Daryl got an extremely lucky shot that half-blinded Io and cost the Gundam it's backpack, and even then he very nearly lost, saved only by deus ex machina.

The fight was essentially just the two of them flying around spitting death at one another - Daryl doesn't have much that can penetrate the Gundam's armor, but Io literally can't hit him because he jinks and weaves through fire in ways that won't be possible for another 20-odd years in an already highly maneuverable suit. It doesn't matter how many guns you've got if you can't hit the bastard.

Io is shown to otherwise be a very capable, if reckless pilot. He's about on par with the other OYW side story protags like Shiro or Kou, for sure.

I don't think you get it broseph; the entire point of the Psycho Zaku is that all movement is being controlled directly by his brain, making it far more effective than a regular soldier would be. It's like he's got an EVA or a G Gundam suit + remote psycommu weapons. Which is why he could do Macross-esque shit like shooting down tons of missiles with machine guns that are being held by those tiny arms on his back etc
