the thing that completely takes away the metaphorical(or literal) boner you get when watching some giant robot show
mine is wheels.
why would a mech have legs if it could just have wheels to move around?

I'm okay with beam cannons and internalized beam weaponry like the Photon Power beam and whatnot. It's just the rifles and to a lesser extent, the swords that bug me because they make beams commonplace and unimpressive.

Wheels make plenty of sense. Have you seen VOTOMs or Flag? The wheels are convenient for high-speed combat or travel in cities and paved roads
In areas that require legs, they become available. But the usefulness changes based on environment
