VERSION/DLC STATUS: Patched to v1.12 ("bugfixes and stability").
DLC Pack 1 "RE:BREAK" requires at least v1.10 and a DLC key from a JPN or SEA PSN (whichever matches your game).
Still no confirmed release dates for further DLC.

Trans-AM is particularly wonky in that several different suits' Backpacks/other parts can enable it, along with the Solar Reactor Builders Part. This led to me going "wait what the hell" when finding the Gundam 00 enemy ace BGM in the FA-78/Psycho Zaku Radio rotation before realizing "hey, I wonder if I could hear this if I popped a BGM Override with a GN-X (III) backpack or Susanowo legs".

The Hi-Nu works relatively well. There's clipping, but honestly it's not bad.

If you don't mind having no EX-Actions, you can go for aesthetics and put on a Hi-Mo Zaku II or Gundam Mk. II backpack on. They're probably the most utilitarian and sexy backpacks.

Here are some unique skills you probably should have:
>phaseshift armor - 10% phys resist
>variable PS armor - 20% phys resist

>nanolaminate armor - 15% phys resist
>reactive armor - 10% phys resist
>GN coating - 20% hp

I make sure I get most if not all of these on each of my suits so that you won't get bodied too hard on extreme up. Good hunting!

To further expand on >>14548272 here -- Variable Phase Shift, Yata no Kagami, Hyper Deuterion and GN Coating would be the only abilities that would be viable with all of these on a build. You're wasting 50 percent of these slots if you build into all eight of these abilities. The white abilities do stack with each other across multiple parts, so if you're looking to push up the value for things like durability or resistance, it's a better idea to increase those. If you're specifically going after orange skills, I'd advise you to pick up a few more varied abilities, like Energy Supply System (range weapon recharge speed +20%), Full Psycho-Frame (Response speed +5%), or Ahab Reactor (Thruster capacity +5000).

Keep pushing up your durability on everything you can. Also make sure your putting parts break and enemy kill health on, it helps a lot. I'm using the Barbatos Katana (Long Sword) with the Iai III Power Strike; though the damage on my blade says 40k, with the power strike I land 110k damage on normal enemies and 240k on powerful enemies without the yellow bar. It's just a matter of upgrading the right weapons and using power strikes at the right time.

Yeah, the two suits in the first DLC are originals for the game. They're supposed to be the two builds that Will and Mr. Gunpla fought each other with back when Will was a kid. The designs are decent overall, but I honestly like them as the individual in-game parts more than completed suits.

Pic related -- it's the Break Dias, the build that Mr. Gunpla used during that same tournament. I want to use its head in a build, still trying to find parts I like to go with it.

They're pretty similar, but even these aren't exactly the same. They're flatter and more narrow at the bottom, with a more direct "step" into the second section, and the perpendicular wing binder has a notch in the underside on the Hopper. Pretty damn close, though, and we know that the GBF and Try designs are known values in the world. Possibly a scratchbuild made to resemble the Hopper binders, at least from an in-universe standpoint? Would also explain the disparity in scale.

What bodies actually work with the Lightning Gundam head? It's got such a high bottom seam that almost every body doesn't have a high enough neck to hide the connector ball joint. While I appreciate that they included the joint on the top of the neck as a callback to actual Gunpla, I would prefer not to see it during the launch animation and on the status screen. Even the actual Lightning Gundam body doesn't have a tall enough neck section to hide it.

Abilities you set on a part apply to all aspects of a build. This is why things like ranged weapon type DPS can apply to your head part.

White unnamed abilities stack with each other. The orange named abilities do not stack and only the highest one applies.

Side note, an ability like "Saber DPS" only affects your equipped melee weapon. i/f you have saber-type Option weapons enabled, you need to use the Option DPS ability to increase their damage.

I've actually found that it's not too hard to get your suit to work in hardcore. This is my main at the moment, entirely close combat focused, and she still shreds everything except super annoying ranged focused PGs.

Gundam Breaker 1 is a bit dated by now, but 2 is great still. After playing about 20 hours of 3, I'd say 2 is an acceptable compromise if you don't have a PS4 or Vita (but fuck playing it on the Vita).

Just make sure you make a Japanese PSN account to get all the updates, as they add suits.

Hardcore is the difficulty you should be playing at, this isn't a 'git gud' statement but a piece of truth in that you get better MS parts that way and its not all that difficult.

I'll admit I've been using the presets(with the occasional tweak) mostly cause I either think the color works for them, or cause I haven't been able to take the time to come up with something more unique(I'm not the best at picking colors)

also as for some of them being busy, well admittedly quite a few had their origin due to me obtaining a part or parts and wanting to build a suit around them

shield weapons and optional equipment are your friends. nearly part you have equipped should increase some kind of DPS that applies to your playstyle. the "avoid insta death" ability is basically required for every perfect grade fight on extreme and above. If you aren't completely bodying every enemy you face you're doing something wrong. Don't forget to merge, and have fun.

The flaw with the Gundam Breaker games is that no matter the difficulty level, the level mooks are just there to eat up you precious lifetime and give you the impression that you're fighting through hordes to get to the (actually fun) bosses and mid-bosses.

You may not want to have a nuclear bazooka and/or GP02 arm/shield parts, but by the third chapter, you'll be in agony trying to finish levels because the mook hack'n'slash just became more effort and monotony than it was worth time you won't ever get back. You'll be wanting at least one by then, if only to clear out the more annoying mook hordes (god, monolith battle is such a fucking chore).

The Barbatos parts you get with the DLC code aren't a big loss as you can earn them pretty early through regular play. It's not immediate but it's not like it takes very much of the game to start seeing the suit in missions.
