Trailer for the second film in the Kaiju verse is out.

Not a bad trailer. They've got some hefty actors on this one (no pun intended, Mr Goodman) should get some good box office.
Can't help but think about the caloric intake a gorilla of that size would need to survive, though. Kong is supposed to be huge, but that's a little overboard.
>>
>>14531135
Looks like shit
>>
>>14531185
>Kong is supposed to be huge, but that's a little overboard.

They have to make him bigger for the big showdown between Kong and Godzilla.

Honestly, WB should concentrate on this rather than you know what.

First order of business: Find a replacement director for Godzilla 2 that doesn't blow chunks.
>>

You high, mate?
Edwards direction and cinematography was the only thing that saved it from being a smoldering trainwreck.

There is exactly one memorable sequence in the entire movie and that's the skydiving bit.

Edwards is extremely mediocre as a director and more importantly a crap storyteller.
Hopefully, he sunk his career with Rogue One, which looks like utter crap.

Well at least it doesn't seem like the trailer is out and out lying to us, like the Godzilla trailer did.

Weirdly enough, in this universe it seems like Godzilla is the good guy and Kong the villain.

I think it looks pretty good, it's got a good cast assuming they don't waste it like they did with Cranston. I know they had to scale up Kong for his hopeful rematch with Big G, but I think they went a just little overboard, maybe. This shot in particular makes him look way too big

Apparently Edwards wanted to make Saving Private Ryan in the Star Wars Universe, an idea so dumb everyone over the age of 13 would have decided against it.
>>
>>14531608
>Which is what Godzilla is supposed to be

Come on, you know Godzilla has been mankind's ally a bunch of times before, even if it did take coaxing and people don't like to be reminded.

I do wish at the end of 2014 that just to offsett the dogooder persona he had started to eat the MUTOs Unit 01 style, just to remind you this is an animal motivated by instinct and hunger
>>
>>14531608

>>14531677
Might be a part of it, but also Disney thought it was way to grim for a pulpy serial about space wizards.
They constantly went on about how depressing Rogue One was going to be, but to me that doesn't really sound like Star Wars. I appreciate that you can tell different kinds of stories in the universe, but there's a bit of framework you're working with here. And especially if you're setting a story during "A New Hope", you can't just go off and grimdark everything up.

>>14531442
Weren't they saying that Kong in this film will be about 100ft tall? While that makes him the biggest American Kong, hes still shorter than Toho Kong, and still less than half Legendary Godzilla's size.
>>
Since Legendary does have the rights to the three monsters in Godzilla 2, what if instead of Kong fighting a T-Rex in the movie (since that is more or less a staple) he gets in a fight with Rodan as a promotion for Godzilla 2

Holy shit was Kong always this big? Like just his face is bigger than a human body.

He used to be able to hold a grown woman in his palm. Now it doesn't seem like it would be "holding" at all.

This is just so he can fight Gojira isn't it.
>>
not sure if itll be a good movie but I really dig the Vietnam vibes some of it is giving off
>>
>>14532860
I don't think so. Maybe it starts out earlier, but I doubt the rebellion sat on the Death Star plans for long when the decision came to blow it up.

So really, while What's-her-face is off scalping Imperial Officers with her Inglorious Rebels, somewhere else in the galaxy Han and Luke are saving Leia and bantering up a storm.

I kinda hate the idea of Interquels in general, because you can't shake the feeling that you're just watching the stuff that wasn't important enough to cover during the original film.

>>
>>14533510
I'd like some bullshit to explain why, but I can deal with it.
>>
>>14533382
More like shitty kaiju every year. Japs liked GMK well enough but were underwhelmed by the later films. They were rushed, low budget, not too well written Japanese kaiju flicks with little to no impact outside their country, where they were already niche to begin with.

We have yet to see how the global movie market reacts when they get high budget western-made monster films on an almost yearly basis. Just because Millennium failed in Japan, that doesn't mean Legendary/WB can't still make their own cinematic universe happen, even if they were off to a shaky start.

>pits humans in robot suits against monsters. An adaptation was previously attempted around 2010 with a package that included Tim Burton as director and John August as screenwriter. It stalled in development after Crimson Peak filmmaker Guillermo del Toro made a competing humans-in-robot-suits-against-monsters, 2013’s Pacific Rim.

>Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the new package has a take that is substantially different from that of the previous iteration, as well as Rim's, although the core concept — humans versus monsters — remains.

Humans vs monsters, but not in robots? Haha yes time for the bootleg Ultraman faction.

I'm wondering what the chances are that, in the eventual Goji vs Kong flick, Big G'll be the one to "win" their fight. I just think it'd be a fun little irony, with the Japanese and Americans having their nation's kaijuu lose in their respective films.
>>
>>14536661
Didn't Kong only win because he was originally supposed to be Frankenstein or something? And that's also why he has electricity powers, too?
>>
>>14537105
Kong won because the Japs didn't want to piss of the guys who nuked them twice.

>>
>>14538299
Exposure is all out of whack.

The angle is too flat. Should be higher up, looking more down. You can still achieve the same sense of scale that way, but it would add more weight to any reveal that would follow as the camera would be able to pan up more dramatically.
