So I recently decided to rewatch G-reco andsome parts of gundam AGE's first arc
I know that both series have their issues (mostly considering their story), but I still found myself enjoying them despite that because of how their atmosphere felt.
Stuff like Eureka seven,Mega Man Legends,Turn A and King Gainer seem to fall in this category for me as well and I've noticed at least one thing that seems to contribute the most are the settings.
A lot of the series I mentioned all had pretty unique and memorable worlds, and were also pretty lighthearted which helps greatly in bringing about that nostalgic feeling of enjoyment when watching.
Anyway I just wanted to know what you other /m/en like about comfy mecha series

Eureka Seven, G-reco and Turn A are some of my favourite shows and I think G-reco is the best of three all due to the amount of time the characters bounce off of each other and having fun little dialogues in almost every scene.

dat shit taste
>>14504154
I also loved how the characters did that too.
In a lot of shows the ship's crew are just there in the background or act as a potential source of drama, but I like how in the shows mentioned they have a bit of characterization through their actions.
It makes the setting feel more lively and like they actually do things besides sit at their respective positions all day.

Well Eureka Seven did have its dark moments. But I suppose it goes into the category.
Some laid-back mecha that comes to mind:
Neoranga, Kuromukuro, Patlabor, Gargantia, Majestic Prince, Build Fighters, Nuku Nuku, Captain Earth ... Mars Daybreak? ... I'm sure there's more but am too inebriated to remember
I prefer these types over the more serious stuff.

>G-reco > Turn A
Nigga what drugs you on?Can you give me some?

Dai-Guard
I can't be the only one who rolls my eyes at the word "comfy" and the implications the word carries in this vernacular.
Star Driver is pretty good for this. Too bad it gets frustrating when the lesbians step in, but picks up again when they fuck off.

Honestly I didn't want to use it when starting this thread but it's the only word I could think of that captures what I liked about these series.
just say: recommend me boring shows
Orguss, Argevollen

I second this hard.
Dai-Guard is a fantastic show, I can't really think of too much to compare it too.
It's one of those shows that has an overall warm feeling and leaves you with a smile on your face.
And the mecha vs kaiju stuff is great
>this thread
>not one mention of Xabungle
Why is Scrapped Princess not considered an essential part of comfy anime viewing?

I legitimately cannot think of a cozier ED song than this. Pushes all my nostalgia buttons.
I'd add Nadesico and Daimidaler. Daimidaler in particular has a lot of 'comfy feels'.

Are you me?
Some earlier, classy mecha shows like NEO-RANGA, PLAWRES SANSHIRO, GIANT GORG, XABUNGLE, and the 2007 re-make of GAI-KING manage to entertain without jerkin' yer chain.
>>14504119
Active Raid might count
I like the show, but calling it Relax Raid would be accurate.
>>14504119
>Eureka Seven
>comfy
Eureka Seven has some of the most heavy-handed suffering in mecha anime and it doesn't stop between episodes 10-48.
Future Boy Conan counts to an extent. Never mind Miyazaki shoving in his environmental messages in this, but it's honestly a mostly pleasant show when Industria people aren't ruining lives.
>>14505962
>2007 re-make
Now if only the subs were not so jerky.
Tiger and Bunny had a bunch of episodes like this as well, though i didnt like the show as much as everyone else
>>14504119
Patlabor is the most "comfy" /m/ thing I can think of.
>>14505773
Shit yeah Scrapped princess is a great show.
But it's old and not talked about much and folks can't be bothered to search for shows to watch.
>>14506826
>Football episode
>Morning glory
>>14508673
Also after the two first episodes of the second half the mood is a lot more lighter than it was during the second quarter
>>14506864
As long as you stick with the TV continuity anyway.
The end of the original OVA and the movies get heavy.
>>14506826
It's also fucking terrible and people who like it should feel bad.

I think E7 hands down has the best atmosphere and world design of all the anime I've seen. Just the chill vibes of surfing in the sky of a cool-as planet really makes it for me. Why is "he just did a cutback drop turn" not a meme?

too old
