Preordering from Right Stuf means you'll get it about a month and a half before the release date. Which is a good thing in my opinion. They have never been anything but ahead of schedule when I've ordered from them.

I haven't even watched G-Reco. I don't know if I should buy that.

G-Reco is good but it's not what he described. It's somewhere above King Gainer in Tomino-ness but has KG genki feel to it, except it has the pacing of every Tomino show in the final arc but throughout the show. Pay attention and you'll understand everything fine, though.

How many discs though? The quality of the episodes past 10 on the Jap BDs were rather poor compared to the first 10, so if they compress it or whatever they do to fit more on a disc, it'll probably look way worse

It's kind of like a happier Victory and Turn A mixed together, to be honest. For all its grim parts Victory did have a reasonable amount of Tomino comedy. At least G-Reco is much more like those two shows than it is like Tomino's Early UC stuff and F91.
His style definitely did change after F91, but I think I really prefer every Gundam he did after F91 (Victory, Turn A and G-Reco) to the Zeta duology and CCA. 0079 is also an exception when it comes to his Gundam series because it is also quite different from Zeta, ZZ and CCA.
I still like those three entries to some extent, but none of them really got me into it like his later Gundam shows and 0079 did.

Completely agreed. I liked Zeta (and to a lesser extent ZZ) but I didn't get the same enjoyment out of it like I did with the other three. Still, I can't help but feel like it was similar to King Gainer, and I mean more than just the character designs.

Even a single layer BD has 3x more space than a dual-layed DVD. Gundam DVDs at most had 5 episodes while the current BDs hit 9 max per disc. Really wouldn't be worried about space/quality ratio.

Non-import versions of Thunderbolt and Origin are still needed.

Also, maybe a Unicorn reprint since those have been out of print for awhile. (though that was an "official" US release despite being the same as the JP disc)

AGE had official English subs (for the oceanic territories). Just not an official US release.
