A horrible mistake.

The indisputable proof that Dewey was right and should've just killed everything in the original E7 and the hippies deserved to DIE.

What is with Bones and edginess?

The original was so much fun because it was so well-hearted with most things.

Yet the manga is all about an ultra-sad story, the movie is a sad story, AO is a sad story.
How can they be so blind to what made the original so fun?
>>
Do people still say the only reason people dislike it is due to it not being like the original.
>>
>>14479437
Yep and its stilol fucking true. Doesn't help that E7 was fucking shit itself

Because Dai Sato

For a so-called "sequel series" to use so little of it's source material (one whose world was already so well developed and interesting) the new setting that they presented was woefully lackluster.

There are plenty of other things wrong that I could go into, but that should be enough to deter anyone from this show.

Really, it was not good. I assure you.
>>
All Dewey wanted was to MAKE EARTH GREAT AGAIN! AO is what you get when you don't think and just allow aliens to take over your world.
>>
>>14479426
>>14479612

Actually, I apologize. You deserve a better explanation.

Essentially what I meant is that (most) all of the people involved in the original series that put so much love and thought into it (namely Kawamori for his stellar mech designs and Dai Sato for his superb writing) were missing from AO's roster. The result of this was a sequel that failed to deliver on its premise (assuming that it ever really had one to begin with...)

He did the design of the Neo Nirvash

Kek. You do realize he wrote pic related right?

His output is at least 50/50 (plus all the writing in the world won't help you if the budget is the price of buying cup ramen).
>>
>>14479700

>He did the design of the Neo Nirvash

The only credit that I can find for Shoji Kawamori's contribution to AO is in reference to the reuse of the Nirvash designs from the original series and movie.

>Kek. You do realize he wrote pic related right?

Do you realize that he's also had a hand in the writing of shows like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Ergo Proxy? He's had involvement in plenty of successful projects to prove his acclaim.
>>
>>14479700
What is that?
>>
>>14479769
>The only credit that I can find for Shoji Kawamori's contribution to AO is in reference to the reuse of the Nirvash designs from the original series and movie.
>EUREKA SEVEN AO (OAV) : Nirvash Design
>EUREKA SEVEN AO (TV) : Nirvash Design
He's credited for the design of the RA272 Nirvash, the one Ao pilots in the show.

>Do you realize that he's also had a hand in the writing of shows like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Ergo Proxy?
He only wrote select episodes for Bebop and Champloo and they're not the best ones also are you seriously using Ergo Proxy as a defense for him? That show was poorly written and up its own ass about it and unlike Bebop and Champloo he was the head writer and wrote every episode.
>>
>>14479700
That looks better than anything that actually appeared in the show.
>>
>>14479819
Right, I found the same credit for Kawamori, but I'm still unsure whether this is in reference to the Mark 1 RA272 or the Nirvash spec 2/v3 designs.

As far as Sato's contributions to Bebop and Champloo, I should clarify that the episodes that the episodes he wrote were among my favorite. I wasn't meaning to suggest that he was the only writer for those shows. That's why i phrased it "had a hand in the writing"

Sorry if that wasn't clear initially.

>Jamming With Edward
Eh...not an Ed fan but it was a good episode
>Bohemian Rhapsody
Ehhhhhhhhhhhh...really?
>Brain Scratch
That is the worst episode of the series.
>>
>>14479775
Dai Shogun. It's not actually porn, if that's what you're hoping for.
>>
>>14479098
An awesome ssequel
>>
>>14479862

Bohemian Rhapsody was a favorite of mine because of the interesting progression of the episode. The twist at the end was fitting for Hex, and the crew's decision to leave him be was touching.

Brain Scratch was different for its pacing and progression, but I thought it was a very chilling episode. I really enjoyed the dialogue between Spike and Dr. Londes at the end of the episode. Plus the whole VR/media mind control aspect of the episode's premise holds up after all this time, which is impressive.

An episode that I might consider less impressive would be Mushroom Samba. I don't know if it's by any means "the worst" but I certainly enjoyed it less than Brain Scratch. (or at least, I wouldn't say that it featured an episode concept that was nearly as ambitious.)

Sorry man. I don't mean to be so difficult. My whole point with all of this was to point out that Dai Sato IS an accomplished writer. Unfortunately due to his absence (along with the absence of other original staff members) we received an unfulfilling sequel series that didn't manage to capture the spirit of the original source material at all.
>>
>>14480011
Is it one of THOSE shows?

>AO literally retcons itself

I don't have the picture I was looking for, so instead here's Vegeta with a pacifier.

Dai Shogun basically looks great on paper, and then you watch the show and realize it's animated in power point.

The most fucked up part was how much it destroyed Renton and Eureka. Like they aren't remotely the same characters.
>>

The saddest thing of them all is that this had everything on point except the story:

Bones at the top of it's game on animation? check

Remarkable mech and character designs? check

Good OST? check

Yet it crashed and burned.

I fear that we will never have another Bones mecha again with two consecutive failures. A shame, they are probably one of the last bastions of good 2D animation for mecha.
>>
It wanted to be like Evangelion but failed.

And Truth still is the worst character in anime.
>>
Remember the heart warming couple of the first series? How they got together in the end despite everything seemingly thrown in their way?
How do you like the idea of them as adults having to bury their dead firstborn due to some inhospitable environment bs?

Yeah.
