It's surprisingly strong, like the Golion Emperor. Both can take a good chunk out of your supers if their hits connect, and will almost certainly kill a real if they attack them. So apparently raising the song stat does jackshit to increase their bonuses, it only increases their attack power when you use them against the 5 or 6 enemies you can use them against.
The songs just get stronger as Basara levels up.

In L, Shinji's best attacks are long range so I used him as a sniper with the Apparition as his partner for the air rank and (IIRC) Hit&Away.

Him having a good attack power is great when you're fighting Protodevlin with their 1/2 damage reduction though. Especially since I seem to recall him having pretty good bases.

It's bad because space stages exist.
Pair him with the Legend, bench him when Rey turns on you(NOT THAT HARD CONSIDERING YOUR DEPLOYMENT SLOTS GET FUCKING SLASHED), and then make sure to get him back.
That also allows the Legend to use its finisher on the moon for the final stage.

I personally bench the Apparition in my first (and sometimes second) run as I don't have enough B Saves to go around.

Should've known. I go out of my way to use as few SEED guys as possible (except for Shinn, I think I put him as Koji's partner for some reason) so I forgot to get Rey back.

I agree with the ammo problem, I used almost all my B Saves on the Macross F crew because I love spamming Itano Circuses but at the point Apparition was out of ammo, Shinji was already into AOA range of the boss.
