Ryosei Konishi said in the promo video that the CG is the same.

The audio commentary track with Ryosei and Mika has to be interesting, but I doubt anyone will sub it.

So I finished Lament of the Dark Dragon a few days ago after putting it off for months, thinking it'd be a rather dark and tearful goodbye to Kouga, but I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the, I can only call it Alice-In-Wonderland aesthetic, it was a little different from what we usually get. The whole tribute to all the behind-the-scenes people was also very nice.
But Kouga is apparently all fine and back now, so why didn't they make any more series with him? Did Konishi just not want to back then?

The Garo armor regained its golden shine thanks to a massive input of feelings from Hakana. When Ryuga made Zen and Gai shine gold, it could be assumed that he was sharing part of those renewed feelings that were powering the armor now, so it counts as Garo channeling feelings into other armors. Garo Shou transformation wasn't produced by the cleansing process made by Ryume, it was a product of the concentration of the protector feelings of Ryuga, Rian, Ryume and Ago in the armor. I can't see how Garo On has anything to do with the power of people's feelings, but in the BOX 2 booklet they remark how Rian's voice played a role in Ryuga getting a hold of himself and accepting his weakness, so that might have something to do with it.

Whoever created Garo out zedom's crap must have put his heart and soul in it.

If anything, that's an assumption. The way the staff seems to put it, it's more like the armor has some kind of will and it "stays calm" only while in the Makai, and thus it can be active on the human world for short periods of time.

I like how, so far, they seem to be going out of their way to make sure that no other Garo but Kouga has green eyes. That way, when an armored Garo shows up and his eyes are green, you just know who it is.

I wasn't meaning that. The thing is My Name is Garo is technically a "GARO Special" that aired after MAKAISENKI but isn't branded as part of said series. Still it was released in MAKAISENKI Complete Box and everyone has it in the same folder together with MAKAISENKI on their hard drives. Ashura is definitely on the same boat regarding Retsuden.

The live action seasons are also part of one connected timeline, but you don't need to know anything about Kouga or Raiga to watch Ryuga's seasons. Theoretically you could do the same with Raiga's season (Flower of Makai) but there are lot of references to previous Garo seasons so I would recommend holding off on that season until you've seen at least original Garo and Makai Senki.

Well, there's a simple reason for that. As Honoo no Kokuin didn't got a Boxset release in Japan, its extras were included with the only BD in each individual volume. And since I don't own a BD drive, I can't rip it. I'm normally reluctant to rip things myself, though. I don't think so. In E&P each wings is connected to GARO's back directly through a ball hinge with somewhat thick pins. The new approach is having the wings connected to a backpack and the backpack going on the back through a single pin. Is Star Channel Garo raw out? How's the quality?

I've seen original GARO some time ago but never really went for more. I liked it as a whole but there was one thing that kind of annoyed me. Especially in last few episodes - characters were getting devastated in fights, then they lied down for like ten seconds in half-dead state, got up struggling, then were completely fine and went to fight again. Along the same lines were multiple cut wounds with visible red blood effects yet there were no open cuts on them or any effect of perhaps loosing blood or stuff. I remember it got ridiculously of of hand i like five last episodes where this was done constantly. Do subsequent GARO series also feature this or do they trim it down at least a little? Now I want to watch more.

Other than that I liked the show. Good ideas, decent plot, though the characters were kind of too extreme - almost autist, super genki-girl, perfect butler, jerkass. They grew on me over time (except for Kaoru) but it wouldn't hurt to make them less extreme and more human. Loved monster designs, dammit, those were fantastic. Good music and kick-ass JAM Project songs. Also nice action choreography.

Well, the dub is a need for some people for a number of reasons that I suppose I don't have to list, though most would be special cases. The most common reason I can think of is that it lets you pay full visual attention at the actual movie. And even if subs are okay for someone, there's people who becomes curious about how well the dub staff will manage to fight with the constrains you mentioned. It's an art, and it can be done well or bad, depending on various factors, so there's people interested in judging it to see which parts they nailed and which parts they fucked up. The technical quality and the acting of the GARO dubs were in fact top notch. The only really questionable fuckup was that they actually pronounced Kouga's name as "Kuga". In fact, if they had actually pronounced it "Koga", that would have been perfectly fine with me as it would be the Spanish pronunciation closest to the Japanese one, since the "u" isn't actually a "u" sound but a subtle prolongation of the preceding "o", which ends up sounding practically "Koga" anyway. They also fucked up some other aspects due to lack of familiarity with the setting, but those errors must have got to the subs too.
