Are there any good /m/ related books.
Not Manga or Comics. Just books.
Preferably not just cyberpunk ones either. I mean men in mechs/exo suits or some equivalent.

There's plenty of light novels out there, but very little in the West. Which is a shame because we lack the glory of such works as Mazinger Z and Getter Robo in a literary form. I'm about 10,000 words into correcting this injustice.
Bolos

Good on you anon. Hope all goes well.

There's a dude on Amazon who just writes giant robot, zombie, and space shit. A lot.
I haven't read ANY of his shit, but he's prolific.
Perhaps some /m/an with more time than I can check him out and report back.

Are they any good? Do they explore the setting more than the show does?
Titanicus by Dan Abnett
I don't even care about Warhammer 40,000 but nevertheless this was a fucking awesome book.

Interesting. Must look into his stuff

>Starship Troopers has exo-suits with jump jets and xenowars. Pretty good stuff.
Significant in that it was the first work to feature powered armor, and inspired Tomino for Gundam. Unlike the fucked up "movie" it has actual powered armor suits in it. Like, a lot.
Joe Haldeman's "The Forever War" is a similar story, in some ways much better -- also xenowars with powered armor. Written actually in response to Starship Troopers.

Yes and yes
"All You Need is Kill" is a Japanese /m/ novel translated by Viz. It was the inspiration for "Edge of Tomorrow" but don't let that stop you. It's good.

>It was the inspiration for "Edge of Tomorrow" but don't let that stop you.
>don't let that stop you.
Are you by any chance implying that Edge of Tomorrow was bad?
I hate how it's impossible to find the first few Bolo books in print

>Are you by any chance implying that Edge of Tomorrow was bad?
Bad for mecha enthusiasts, yes.

Is the graphic novel story is same as the novel?
I have some queries on the hard sci fi sub-genre
1)How much I should be well versed in science in order to enjoy them?
2)What are some must read/essential hard sci-fi (irrespective of medium) ?
Brandon Sanderson wrote a short story for a mecha compilation book. I read the short preview and it seemed pretty cool/realistic.

I've been told it's pretty close.
A lot of the older Battletech books are good. I'm partial to Michael Stackpole's entries.
There's no mechs in the book, but fucking read Dune anyway
