It felt weirdly like a bunch of SRW originals going through their stories in anime form.

You have the edgy main mecha fighting its bretheren with ascending power levels, the red cloak guns guy, the skinny pink rabbit thing, King J-Der, and the carrier that can conveniently store all these wildly different mecha. They all resolve their stories in a couple of fights through the series, after that they're only there to help fight mooks and supply dialog.

It did what it wanted to do.

I liked how Van's weapon is a gun-shaped sword and Ray's is a sword-shaped gun.
