It was literally the only way they could tell that story without making a continuity mess in the later seasons. Specially considering how they turned out being.

I'm not the one you should be telling that.

Would you watch it?

Depends on how you'd do it.
Is it a "criminals doing their usual thing but for some organization's benefit" a la Suicide Squad?
Or is it "criminals doing the hero thing as a cover/as rehab/as a means to an end" a la Thunderbolts?
Also the way it's phrased makes me think of The Real World.
>This is the story of 5 strangers picked to live in a command center and have their lives taped. Find out what happens when monsters stop being nice and start being real.

You're kind of a dick, you know that? Stop trying to take the fun out of things I enjoy, specifically my childhood nostalgia for what I know objectively, to be a crummy show.

I PLAYED Power Rangers on the playground with other kids. It was fun and stuff. Looking back on it now recalls that most tender age.

Douche.

Do you think PR was better with Saban or with Disney.
>>
>>14409591
I am so hard right now. It's everything I've ever wanted.

>>14411177
That's a really tough call. I think early Saban Era was more fun and inventive, and MMPR Productions had really hit it's stride before Wild Force happened and Tzachor was allowed to adapt Sentai plots unchecked.

Disney Era had stronger series right out the gate and (initially) better writing and actors, but noticeably petered out in the middle of SPD, which carried all the way to Jungle Fury (which also had to deal with a writer's strike). RPM was an amazing last gasp, but it's clear we only got it because of Disney execs steadily losing interest in their step-franchise.

I guess it boils down to which era had your favorite series.
>>
>>14411177
If I had to pick, Disney.

Alright everyone so on Sunday I held the first session of my PR tabletop campaign, which was also my very first time running a game myself.

The following took 6 hours, excluding a one-hour break for a meal.
>>
>>14412087
The setup (if, like me, you're a cross-poster from /tg/) is a homebrew mix of DnD 5e, Paranoia and the 40k roleplay systems (just the "Fate points" aspect).

In the year 20XX, weird things have been happening. Blue-gray things have been taking people right off the street to parts unknown. Olympian Dynamics, a tech giant with its fingers in a lot of political pies, volunteers to create a team to combat this and other threats to the public. Congress has issued OD letters of marque in these matters: as long as they don't go off the reservation, the team will have carte blanche to mete out justice as they see fit. For conflict-of-interest reasons, part of the deal was the team members having no ties to either OD or any government body, so OD and the DoD conducted a joint hiring process that, in practice, looked a lot like singing competition show auditions.

Our Team:

>Dillan Dax - fresh out of high school, pretty good with guns, was pushed into this by his father so he could "make something of himself"

>LX-W33D, alias "Clyde Flanagan" - a robot with a love for the dankest of herbs. Of course, being a machine, he cannot actually toke up himself, but he's found his own mind-altering drug (a USB that he plugs into his own cranium - it scrambles his central processor and memory files for a bit before his built-in antivirus software kicks it out)

>"Uncle" Sam - a vigilante who, despite having clear mental stability issues, somehow acquired both a military-issue sniper rifle and attack helicopter - is quite good with the rifle

>Marvin Gaye - no, not that one, the other one. You know, the mid-40s, balding, short, portly Minnesotan with the fanny pack and stellar computer skills
>>
>>14412142
Each PC was picked up in a black Escalade by OD employees. Highlights during this introductions were Clyde being convinced this was some kind of high-level drug trafficking op and Marvin rolling a critical fumble and dumping an RV's waste container onto his own pants.

The Escalade drives away from Marvin's RV-park neighborhood and out into the country. They get into the cornfields and drive down a path that leads to a boxy brick building with one door, no windows. The team is let out, driver walks inside to take care of some last minute business.

A few minutes of banter later - the driver is still not back yet - the team hears something from inside the cornfield. From the stalks comes one of the monsters they saw on the news: blue-gray skin, like a frozen corpse; sunken eye sockets with no eyes to fill them; a gaping mouth covered by skin, as if someone had stretched a cloth over it; and blackened forelimbs, all ending in heavy black claws.

The first combat encounter is a three-stooges sketch until Marvin grapples the Ghoul (dubbed so after I made a "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" reference) by sitting on it and Sam shoots it in the head. It bleeds neon blue.

A man bursts out from the door of the building, shouting in panic, asking if they're okay, exclaiming that "they've never been this close before, everybody get inside" while dragging the body back towards the building. Everyone follows him in, and immediately the man's demeanor calms. He pulls a lever and sends the floor into downward motion - it's one giant elevator. This is Robert Neil, the liaison between the team and the OD corporate power structure. This was all a test - after the audition, the bigwigs wanted to see what the team would do in a "live-fire" situation. They have a few captured Ghouls and had one set up in the cornfield to sic on the team.
>>
>>14412187
At the end of the elevator ride (after the revelation that Neil's son had been kidnapped by the Ghouls) Neil leads them through a very stuffy-looking corporate office hallway to an R&D lab, where they see a preserved Ghoul up close.

Neil brings them over to one workbench where a bald, bearded, harried-looking man in a navy-blue jumpsuit is fiddling with a quartet of black devices. His name is Will, and he's invented these devices to tap into the newly discovered pocket dimension of Metaspace. You can send messages through it, store objects in it, maybe even draw power from it. These are his babies, and he's very protective of them. Oh, and a set of sidearms with pistol- and short-sword-modes.

These devices also have the ability to summon a suit of lightweight ballistic fabric (tactical-black with color coding) onto the user's body from it's place on a mannequin in the lab. This is the point where my players figured out this was a PR campaign - thankfully, they were excited about it.

Suddenly, klaxons sound! There's been some kind of Ghoul-related activity at the docks! Time to head out on the first mission - they were hoping to get some training first, but this one's hot and there's no time!
>>
>>14412200
The team heads to the docks by chopper (not Sam's, to his dismay) and attempt to scout out the place. They fiddle with yet-unnamed devices, and find they've got some custom gear to go with them. Clyde (in green, natch) has a pair of Anti-Grav Boots; Marvin (in yellow) has the Thunder Knuckles, a pair of massive gauntlets that can be combined into a shield and have an electrical shockwave AoE; Sam (in Blue) with the CryoCarbine, a rifle that shoots a beam of pure cold; and Dax (in Red, drafted as the leader because, well, the other PCs dumped social stats and skills) with the Firebrand - it looks like the hilt of a sword and you swing it around to shoot fire at people.

Clyde's boots come in handy for scouting, as does the scope on Sam's new rifle - but Sam's abysmal stealth check tips off the enemy to his presence. Now there are 5 Ghouls guarding a warehouse door, all out for blood. In the ensuing fight, Sam ice's a Ghoul's head off, Dax incinerates two at once, and Clyde attempts to distract using the bags of...product he put in Metaspace on the ride over.

Clyde flies up to a skylight atop the now-unguarded warehouses, and sees a trio of Ghouls milling around inside, as well as a horned man with blue skin dressed in a black robe attending to something inside a large cage.

Marvin walks up to the warehouse, knocks, and says in his polite Midwestern way, "Anybody in there?"

A rough masculine British voice that melts into Australian and then 1920's American wiseguy answers, and in the middle of the ensuing conversation the door suddenly swings open, a bright blue arm grabs Marvin by the throat and pulls him inside.
>>
>>14412233
Sam and Dax successfully stealth inside the warehouse. The man who grabbed Marvin (introduced as Pollux) is massive - think Kingpin from Spider-man, flab over muscle - and he's got two little nubby horns on his head. He's bright blue and wearing loose-fitting pants. He banters with Marvin a bit, lets slip some information on his employers and their hand in the creation of the Ghouls. His robed brother, Castor, is inhumanly thin and his horns are long, thin and sticking up like an antelope's. Next to him is the cage, holding a man in hospital scrubs and a woman in a jumpsuit, both in lab coats. Marvin breaks free with his shockwave move and attempts to free the hostages, but Castor and Pollux know that dead men don't talk, and begin the final combat round of the night - but not before Clyde smashes the skylight in, distracting the two so a hidden Sam can lop off a quarter of Pollux's HP from across the warehouse during a surprise round.

Pollux beings to levitate like Dhalsim and starts summoning blue flames in his hands. Marvin immediately rushes him, Thunder Knuckles held before him like a battering ram, and knocks him to the ground. Dax gets into a scuffle with the three Ghouls with Sam providing supporting fire, Clyde uses his boots to rescue the hostages.

Having been given time to charge up his own move, Castor shucks off his robe to reveal his sickly blue loincloth-clad body underneath, gets into a sprinter's crouch, and summons flames around his feet to propel him forward, straight towards Sam, spinning in the air to blindside him with a dropkick straight to his kidneys. Castor immediately rolls a critical fumble and deals damage to himself as he misses and falls, Hi-Jump Kick style.
>>
>>14412351
Marvin and Pollux duke it out, Pollux tossing fireballs and pulling out an AoE of his own. It ends with Marvin giving him a shot to the heart, Temple-of-Doom-style.

Sam plugs away at Castor who lands one of four hits, for only 2 damage. Marvin actually manages to sneak up and bear hug him, and right before Castor turns himself into a bomb, Sam executes him.

Meanwhile, on the roof, the hostages are Ankit Nesti, MD, bioengineer, and Carolina Nesti, PhD in robotics. Clyde immediately offers them something to take the edge off - he accepts, she declines. Once the realize he's talking about weed, he declines, she accepts. She asks if Clyde wanted to share - it would be rude not to - and Clyde removes his helmet to show off his robot face. She immediately recognizes him as LX-W33D, her lost creation, and they immediately bond over their love for the ganja (programmed into him by her, natch). Ankit, however, is extremely offput not just by the illicit drug use but by the device on his arm. He points to it and says "that's it - that's what they wanted from us! Why do you have it?"

Cut to black, end of session.

Why doesn't bandai of america produce its own show?

Adapting shit is not going to produce another hit like power rangers only did in 1990, when the series at the time won a die roll and had all the elements that appealed to the audience at the time once they added the sitcom portions. They couldn't even sell that again.

Why not make their own thing that does that for today's western audiences? Why not sell to a western audience and appeal to their culture as hard as bandai of japan does to their culture, instead of hoping the footage and toys this year are not too bizarre to sell to the world audience?
>>
>>14423015
Because buying footage is much cheaper to do then producing your own. Also, I'm pretty sure now that Saban has PR back he ain't letting anyone get ahold of it.
>>
>>14416972
QFT

Power Rangers is the only reason the Nips were able to keep sentai afloat in the 90's so weeaboos should fuck off
>>
>>14423015
-They are cheap with sentai in fucking japan already which they don't finance as a tv show but as a toy commercial, so of course if using the same footage for another show works they'll do it.

-They won't get another hit period, whether it uses existing material or not, it's way harder to make a hit in pop culture than in the 90s and it becomes harder as time passes. Why do you think there aren't that many,if any, cape movies that aren't marvel and dc properties despite them being so popular? The only way to do it is with something that's very innovative and a show that's remotely similar to PR won't cut it (as the other american toku and Dragon Knight show). Toku is already struggling in Japan alone.

Sure, Power Rangers could be more popular, but I don't see something similar being nearly as sucessful as PR was when it began. Although if the new movie ends up being a movie franchise on its own maybe you could count that.

Because it's way easier and cost effective to rehash Nip footage and props? And the fact that it's fun to see how Saban adapts each season.

The Japs don't mind at all that PR exists and are quite flattered that the West is taking an interest in that wife-fu commercials.

BTW, PR has a large following amongst kiddies AND older fans so it's not going anywhere. Jack off to sentai and quit ruining PR threads with your autism.

The US and its citizens don't care for Asian actors. Hollywood is proof of this so no surprise they don't want to see a show full of Japanese people. There's also a lot of cultural barriers and mature content that wouldn't fly under network guidelines.

Japanese fiction is treated as cool so long as it doesn't have to do with Japanese people. It's the only way Americans can find Asian culture palatable to them.
>>
>>14419004
Those are still to this day my favorite power ranger toys.
>>
>>14424585
Some are alright but in general japs have low presence in Hollywood and their own stock of actors is pretty shit.
>>
>>14424585
>Japanese fiction is treated as cool so long as it doesn't have to do with Japanese people. It's the only way Americans can find Asian culture palatable to them.
Literally the exact opposite of the truth. Asian fiction HAS to be about being Asian or it won't make money in America.
>>
>>14424624
Instead, Hollywood is cocksucking China and frankly it's sickening.

As for Japan's actors, keep in mind that their society prefers seeing amateurs on film and TV. They relate to the everyday person though Japan's produced credible performers like Ken Watanabe, Tadanobu Asano, and Beat Takeshi.
>>
>>14424653
>Asian fiction HAS to be about being Asian or it won't make money in America.
The Ghost in the Shell live-action adaptation begs to differ. The same with Dragon Ball Evolution, Speed Racer, and Edge of Tomorrow. All Hollywood has to do is CGI white actors as Asians or cast whites in place of a character that's been stripped of its Asian origin.
>>
>>14424683
The Major is a weird thing.

Here's a character whose current nationality is Japanese, but whose origins are a complete mystery other than that she was cyborgified as a child. The only organic parts of her are her brain and spinal cord - if she's even female at all. Her name is clearly a pseudonym (and is referred to as such in Shirou's copious liner notes in the original manga). The name itself isn't even a pseudonym a Japanese person would be likely to use (don't see many Jane Excaliburs walking around in the West). Her body is explicitly described as a nothing-special off-the-rack consumer model stuffed with spy gadgetry (to dissuade looters and scavengers from making off with the gadgets should a mission go south). Her inner monologues are obviously still in Japanese, but that happens all the time when you become fluent enough.

I would in fact be perfectly fine with ScarJo as The Major, as long as it was made clear that the body she's currently in is explicitly modeled after ScarJo and not just "Caucasian Woman". Like at one point in the opening act she passes by a storefront, and there's a ScarJo body as Black Widow, ScarJo from The Prestige, ScarJo from...I don't know, Don John? Then ScarJo walks down the street, passing by the Major herself, but it's clearly not ScarJo, just some random person in a ScarJo body. Japan likes Western celebrities, so it wouldn't at all be weird for some enterprising Japanese company to create a line of prosthetic bodies modeled after Western celebrities.

Speed Racer's cast were drawn to look rather Caucasian, or at least with very Western sensibilities, and any opportunity to cast John Goodman is a good decision anyway.
Haven't seen Edge of Tomorrow nor read All You Need Is Kill, so I can't comment on that.
Dragon Ball Evolution was just shit. Chow Yun Fat, James Marsters and Ernie Hudson were wasted on that movie.
>>
>>14424911
The studio also tried using CGI to make an actor more Asian-esque. Supposedly it was Scarlett without her knowing about it.

Dragon Ball is a story about an alien who lives on a world with only one king and no country division that it's clearly not ours, there's no reason to think the characters have to be asian.

Except the story is initially an adaptation of a Chinese legend, and the settings and architecture are clearly based on China, and Goku is designed looking very similar to native characters, like Chichi, while "Bulma" looks foreigner in comparison to them.

Now, when they go to a place called "West City" and "Orange/Satan City", all the characters suddenly have names based on English words and bright hair or eye colors suddenly are much more common, while the Chinese architecture theme is dropped.

Really, it's not hard to get what's meant to be eastern looking and what's meant to be western looking in Dragonball.

>Yet Kal-El from Krypton is portrayed as a white dude in live action.
An alien that looks human can be interpreted by any human. White dudes are human.
And Superman looks more white than anything else and he lives in a world that's clearly based on ours.

Completely different case and if you werent being ironic you'd be a big retard.

>>14427533
>Except the story is initially an adaptation of a Chinese legend
So? It's not even the same thing, Suh Wukong is not an alien (heck, he's a fucking monkey), he doesnt have access to capsules that have cars in them and I'm pretty sure he didn't fight androids. If anything your issue should be with Toriyama.

>and the settings and architecture are clearly based on China
Completely irrelevant.

> Goku is designed looking very similar to native characters
Who aren't chinese.

>Now, when they go to a place called "West City" and "Orange/Satan City", all the characters suddenly have names based on English words and bright hair or eye colors suddenly are much more common, while the Chinese architecture theme is dropped.
Which didn't happen in Journey to the west. Hmmm.

>Really, it's not hard to get what's meant to be eastern looking and what's meant to be western looking in Dragonball.
It is when you have to make up bullshit with no basis.

Are you really this stupid or did tumblr really leak from /co/?
>>
>>14429193
>So? It's not even the same thing, Suh Wukong is not an alien (heck, he's a fucking monkey)
And Goku is just a boy with a monkey tail that turns into a giant monkey in the arc that adapted Journey to the West. An origin that came years later is pretty irrelevant.

Yeah, sure, even the "adaptation" story was pretty loose, but you pretty much just closing your eyes to elements from the original that remained there. The Chinese architecture and Japanese version of Chinese names aren't just a random coincidence.

>Who aren't chinese.

They have eastern names based on Chinese legends. They have consistently black hair and eyes and live in a place that visually resembles China. And somehow you think they weren't intended to be East Asian-like at all just because it doesn't take place in the real world?

>Are you really this stupid or did tumblr really leak from /co/?
Irrelevant personal insults. But I guess this shows how senseless your claims are since you jumped to that after I posted a single time.

Either way, I don't think mentioning this is even necessary, but...

http://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/dragon-ball-super-history-book-akira-toriyama-interview/

>His eyes change shape as well.

>With the usual design for his eyes, it was hard to have him look off to one side. It made it hard to tell exactly where he was looking, so I wanted to give him eyes that would make this more clear. His eyes from right after he transforms for the first time and looks up at Freeza… I based those off of Bruce Lee. Since that look of his where he glares right at you is paralyzing! That’s what I wanted to do in the Freeza arc… Once Goku gave that look, as far as I was concerned the story arc was over. I was like, “They have to start fighting now? What a pain!” My goal was just to get to that look. But when it actually came time to draw it, it turned out a bit different than how I had imagined it. I still thought Bruce Lee looked a lot cooler. (laughs)

So Goku is irrelevant to Goku? Ok.

No, you're just adding elements that weren't there.

>They have eastern names based on Chinese legends.
>BFJ is based on Captain America
>Most of the cast is played by japanese actors and are japanese characters in-universe

>Japanese Spider-Man is based on Spider-Man
>he's still japanese
A character doesn't need to be from the same country where the inspiration came from anon.

> And somehow you think they weren't intended to be East Asian-like at all
If they were, they would have stated so. They didn't.
You also keep dodging the fact that suh Wukong was a monkey that wasnt alien.
Him being turned into a chinese alien should already be a bad thing. I mean, if you were consistent.

io9 published first part of their best Ranger costumes list. So, let's bitch about it here. They also count from the best to worst.
>1) MMPR (no surprise)
>2) Wild Force
>3) Mystic Force (they bitch about visors)
>4) Dino Thunder (they bitch about visors again)
>5) Ninja Storm (they think Green is a terrbile costume)
>6) SPD
>7) Ninja Steel

Zeo and Dino Thunder being so high is stupid.

>It’s kind of hard to not rank these number one. They’re the standard that all the others are judged against.
That's not really a reason to put them as number one and they aren't even the first set of suits with that design.

Seriously these clickbait shit are trash, but it usually takes more than one line for them to be shit.

>1) MMPR (no surprise)
While their reasoning is bullshit and they're clearly nostalgiafags, the zyuranger suits are top tier.
>2) Wild Force
They're ok, not that high.
>3) Mystic Force (they bitch about visors)
Another top tier set of suits. Odd it's that high, specially considering is from a Disney season.
>4) Dino Thunder (they bitch about visors again)
They're fine but they look too much like the Zyuranger/MMPR ones
>5) Ninja Storm (they think Green is a terrbile costume)
>Green
>Terrible
Maybe in super samurai mode, and it's not terrible then, it's pretty fucking good.
>6) SPD
Top tier set of suits again, it's too low in the ranking.
>7) Ninja Steel
They're fine and coming out from Toqger they were very welcome, but they aren't very innovative either.
>8) Zeo
I like them, but no way they're that high.

Surprisingly, the only top tier post-jetman sentai suit missing are the Operation Overdrive ones but it's understandable since this list doesn't seem to be fully based on design.

>>14438772

>>
>>14438372
>Wild Force so high up
Wow. I mean, I know it's just critiquing their uniforms, but wow. Wild Force never gets accolades for anything. I'm really impressed.

I could do without the "witty" banter though. And the constant whining about visor visibility as if it were an in-universe problem when it's obviously not.

Also, talking shit about Green Samurai? Nah, motherfuckers, nah. Your opinions are officially worthless. MAYBE Super Samurai looks bare compared to the standard form, but how can you complain about peripheral vision when it arguably has more than the base helmet?!

>>14438778
I feel like the Ninja Ranger costumes are going to be pretty close to the bottom. After all, they're just color-coded stereotypical ninjas.

Expect TQGer to get an honorary mention if it doesn't win the worst title proper. The obvious punchline of "no wonder this didn't get adapted!" is too blatant for these writers to pass up.

>>14440553
Agreed. It has the same kind of color balance that the Time Force suits have that makes them A+ in my book.

Yeah, the lips are kind of weird when they're not silver. But most of the time they blend in so I hardly notice them.

>Somebody is already bitching in comments, and they pretty much said that, no. TQG doesn't count.

No wonder I missed it. I try not to look at the comments of any mainstream blog. Still, it felt like the obvious joke wasn't exactly above them.

Half of Toei's sentai mony you probably mean. Those guys also have Dragon Ball, One Piece, Precure and Kamen Rider after all.

No way, man. I know it's cheap to put them up at the top, and it may be more nostalgia than I'd like to admit, but those suits are really great.

If anything the diamonds are a little generic, but they cut the perfect amount of contrast within the solid colors.

There's nothing overly busy about the suit, no emblems that break the simplicity, and it avoids the overuse of white like other suits of that era (pre-Zyu specifically), so they just pop wherever they are.

The helmet thing I guess is subjective, but basing them on animals, dinosaurs specifically, gives every individual suit just enough personality it needs.

I think in general designs got strong by Jetman, it'd be more interesting to make a worst 5 or 10 suits list. New Powers: Powers of the "Legendary Dragon" tops off

I wouldn't mind it that much if it was just a popular season and not an excuse for people who want to look cool to claim they know about sentai. Or if people could compare it objectively to other seasons.

as much as I hate power rangers, I just had to write this down. It's been awhile since I've seen RPM and Go-Busters so dont mind the errors. If I were going to flesh this out more, I'd do more fact checking.

Go-Busters RPM sequel

-50-80 years later.
- Most of society is rebuilt
- Most of the previous characters are gone due to age.
- Black is the only one still around since he's half robot (I believe)
- Have alot (but not all at once) flashbacks with him and the old crew.
- Red, Green and Dr. K have created a self defense force since the battle in RPM.( Energy Management Center )
-Red was the leader but Black has taken over.
- He's not great at it but he does a good job.
- The Ventrix? Virus is back.
- A previous scientist released it and is now transformed (Enter)
-They have a small scale attack on the city (Nothing super powerful, but enough to show their force)
- The Go-Bus suits dont have owners yet ( the users are still kids)

(Now I know power rangers have a tendency to destroy changers at the end of the series, and im not too sure what they did with the changers in RPM)

-Black takes up his Shift Changer and goes to fight.
-Gets his ass whooped and loses the shift changer from arm loss (he's half robot so it's okay. It wouldnt get sliced off, think DBZ Ki Blast destruction)
- Black still did enough to drive them back.

(think the story of go-bus abit. "ENTER" trapped a few scientists into a room and threw them into the computer. The kids survived just like in Go-Bus)

I'm sitll hazy on how I want to treat the buddyroids but they will be in there.

-Black tries to turn into Beet Buster, Doesnt Work
- Works for another scientist who was stuck in the computer? (still hazy on what do here too)
- They might be related to Dr. K
- Beet J Stag is still the same Beet J Stag because he's great.
sorry, im still hazy from just waking up but it sounded better in my head. I'm sure this has been done before.

My gold standard for Hollywood adaptations at this point is Speed Racer.
That shit was ridiculous, I'd love to let the Wachowskis have a go at PR.
>>
>>14496155

I hated the Speed Racer adaptation like I do with other Anime to Hollywood adaptations but I could see them doing a decent job with Power Rangers.
>>
>>14496173
>>14496155
Speed Racer is the best example of how an adaptation should be made, keep the spirit of the original and do your own thing, it's the best of two worlds. Sadly, most do the latter(like PR will) and some few do only the former(which is good but not the best approach).

>>14495979
Seriously though, that is an amazing sculpt for a BoA figure. The male sculpts are a bit weird with the shoulders and squat helmets, but otherwise this is great.

>>14495987
I have the highest reasonably low expectations for this movie. As far as adaptions that completely miss the point go, I just want a movie I can enjoy.

Not a guilty pleasure, like the first and third Transformers movies. Not a "it was okay, but had some great moments" like the Amazing Spider-Man". Not even "it was shit, but I'll watch it if it's on cable" like the Amazing Spider-Man 2.

I want a guilty pleasure I can feel proud of buying as soon as it's released. The kind of movie you catch on HBO when it's halfway over, then pop in the DVD to watch from the beginning. The kind you can unironically quote back and forth with friends.

That's not too much to ask, is it?

After a full week of sort of just sitting here in this thread, the results more or less:

Top 10 Ranger suits as voted by /prg/:
1. Super Megaforce
2. In Space
3. S.P.D.
4. Time Force / Ninja Steel
5. Movie (1995) / Ninja Storm
6. MMPR S1 / Mystic Force / Jungle Fury / Samurai
7. Zeo / Turbo / Lost Galaxy / Lightspeed Rescue / Wild Force / Dino Thunder / Megaforce
8. Operation Overdrive
9. Alien Rangers / RPM / Dino Charge
10. (no votes) MMPR S2 / Movie (2017)

This is indisputable science. But someone should go break these ties.

>>
>>14511817
Did you time travel by accident?
>>
>>14511826
?? what do you mean?
Look, PR is ignoring Gobusters and Toqger, and is going directly with Ninninger (last year's SS), so right now SS and PR are only one season apart.

Maybe this is common knowledge here, but I don't browse in here than often, literally my last post was the first in almost a year.
>>
>>14511847
Except that PR is split into two years per series because Nickelodeon is run by idiots
>>
>>14511847
You forget that it's not even the smallest gap between Sentai and PR. During Dino Thunder, writers were thinking that Red's final upgrade is a separate Ranger. I believe most of Disney's series premiered, like, 4-8 weeks after their sentai was finished.
>>
>>14511817
Each PR show lasts two years, so it will never happen.
Ninja Steel will air next year, alongside Zuohger+1 and super ninja steel will air alongside Zyuohger+2.
So by the time NS ends they will have Zyuohger and 2 shows more worth of material.
By the time the show using any of that ends they will have two more and so on. It will never catch up at the current pace.
>>
>>14511847
>so right now SS and PR are only one season apart.

I would

Goddamn, Red and Pink are the only decent ones.

The rest lack their own distinctive shape or features, and they're just derivative of the Red/Pink ones to be honest. Black/Blue/Yellow couldn't stand on their own as a solo hero, and if you made the pic grayscale, there'd be nothing that'd outright say, "Oh this is the Blue Ranger".

As a whole, I've always been a fan of lips on helmets, but the silver takes up so much room on some of these. Pink's entire bottom front is all silver. and it's almost bizarre that'd they're going for the more alien aesthetic, yet they'd go with human mouths. They all look too alien in general. You can only make out Tyrannosaurus on Red.

There's so much color on the suits as a whole as evidenced by the toys. They could really use some white to break it up.

ANYWAY. Still want to see them in motion, hopefully we get a trailer soon.
>>
