As someone that actually knows Japanese I did not find anything wrong with Imagination-Station's Abaranger. Except some minor mistypes, of course.

They adapt a lot of things, including names that are puns, but that comes with translating, anon.

I just finished watching the 10 Years After of Dekaranger after watching the series for the first time. I really liked the special and was a great ending for the series, at least they finally explained how judgement works. And about Dekaranger, it wasn't as good as I expected. It had great episodes, but most of them are ruined by an innecessary mecha battle. And even the good ones had a lot of would-be-better-if points. But after all, I liked it, but it's the sentai I've liked the least so far. I'm about to watch Goseiger now, what should I expect?

Dekaranger was good, but you can't deny many episodes had a lot of things that didn't make any sense or that would be better without them. Maybe I just felt it like that because I watched it with a friend who also watched Power Rangers SPD and everytime we finished an episode he was telling me how they did it in the adaptation and this may be one of the cases where the PR version was better than the source.

Really? Watching SPD, I thought it was exactly the opposite. I enjoyed when they went completely original like the first couple of episodes and the finale, but when they were doing adaptations things just seemed half-assed, like their investigation scenes often being replaced by going to the same informant every time, or the monsters of the week with their own methods and motivations being replaced by mindless drawings come to life working for the evil emperor who really shouldn't exist as a constant presence in a police themed series.

So...after the combination of the Megazord used by TheWorld, Wild Zyuoh King and Cub Bat, where will Zyuohger go next? I think we're gonna get 1 more cubimal (Cube Dragon) for the other Rangers and combination that goes something like this.

In this form Cube Dragon folds up into a torso for the combination, while Rhino forms the pelvis and part of the shoulders.

I'm thinking it would be one of those zords that can form a megazord in its own right, as well as being a carrierzord for the other cubimals, oh, and it's also fucking huge, so there's that.

Mechs, mecha, or or go by what the show designates them, cubes. Go-Busters is the only season of Super Sentai to date to ever use the term "zords", and even then it was primarily only used to describe the enemy mechs. The Go-Buster's mechs were referred to as buster machines.

Since Walt Disney Co is one of the 6 mega-corp that controls 90% of the USA entertainment industry(!!*) and they had the rights+production of the adaptations from mid-2002(when Wild Force was still airing) till end of 2010,why the fuck was PR given a small budget to work with and had low episodes(30-32 episodes,with a lot of CGI and wire work)?

It's even more baffling: the 1st Saban Era seasons(MMPR till Wild Force) had 40-50 episodes(the very first adapted season alone was 60 episodes!) and all were filmed in California(and Australia for the 1995 movie+ few episodes of season 3).Even worse,most actors weren't even part of an union/SAG(so it was cheap to produce and pay).But somehow,it all worked out(including disputes/disagreements).

2nd/Neo Saban era(2011-2018) is fucked up: contract with Nickelodeon(only 20 episodes season for a live-action tv-show) means they have to stretch an adaptation to 2 year,but at least they can have it working it out(except for Super Megaforce,which is considered a total wreck or nightmare of a adaptation and the worst season of all of them by literally everyone).


Also,the Walt Disney Co wanted to buy and thus change the entire Super Sentai franchise(i.e fucked it all up) after Operation Overdrive(which aired in 2007,adaptation of Boukenger),which pissed off Toei.

Mecha are usually a different fight for the most part, which is nice, and of course the designs are entertaining.

However, I also think when done right, they can also even be new characters who for one reason or another are entertaining.

Most times it's a necessary waste of time(entertainment-wise) to let the show be a thing since the fights tend to be boring. Is for that reason that i appreciate when the writers work around the mandatory mech exposure, or stuff like go-busters where the mechs did not only fight. They do get a god fight once in a while.

As for any toys, i also like when they're integrated on a more organic way into the plot, either as a character (bio robo, daizyujin) or by making their aquiscition plot-relevant like the recent lion haoh.
Special mention to the kakuranger episode where sasuke uses their mech's sword instead of a mech fight, very innovative.


Design-wise, i like them more when it looks like a consistent robot(as many of the first mech did) instead of 5 shiny different colored parts(toqoh or gokaioh).
I also like when they experiment with the component formation like galaxy mega, dairenoh(my fav) and the recent shurikenjin(the trone gimmick was great and very underused, specially considering the toys allowed for unplanned new ones to be added). However, i think the need to make the mechs combinators is sort of an artifact since the components are rarely used on the show and the main mech is still one purchase. No reason to not bring one piece mechs like galaxy robo(i know, it's 2 technically) back and just add gimmicky weapons to it.

I think the two seasons that I thought handled mecha well were Go-Busters, with its simultaneous mecha and ground battles, and Boukenger, which gave even some of the auxiliary mecha components episodes entirely focused on them, as well as two episodes where the only real battle was a mecha battle.

In general, if they want the mecha battles to have any value, they need to stop resolving the episode's subplot or lesson during the ground battle. Generally that means that the mecha battle will be completely pointless or just a repeat. If they left the resolution for the giant part, then it'd have some value for the narrative.
