Give us some details.

The story focuses on a boy who idolizes his older brother, a natural builder and battler, two-time winner of the Nationals and aiming for the World Cup, but rarely has time for his family. He follows his brother into Gunpla. On the day of his first win at a local building competition, his brother goes mysteriously missing. Looking for a source of inspiration to finally soar out of his lackluster career, 30-year-old MC-kun travels the world in search of something that can bring him back into the young man's game. In addition, the prevalence of Battlers over even Builders worldwide gives him ideas. At first tentative about abusing his precious creations, but soon throws himself into it as a means to broaden his Gunpla horizons. He never gets what he's looking for but no matter where he ends up, he'll find a challenge and a fellow Gunpla battler. Whether it be a remote location using a generator to battle against a monk who has taken an oath of silence or taking to the bustling, unfamiliar streets of Hong Kong with a crowd of Gunpla enthusiasts from around the world, he learns about Gunpla, about the nature of creativity and effort, and about himself.

Enter the Lightning-Rod Cuff, a new move developed by a small group of metagamers to attempt to game the system and avoid beam attacks. MC goes on a personal mission to teach them what it means to have fun.

An analytical type who carries around a metal briefcase with a ton of different Gunpla, and picks the one he thinks best-suited to his current opponent. If possible, he will spectate on one of their matches before challenging them.

This works decently well against stock kits, but he misreads the protagonist's unit and makes a poor choice that leads to his defeat (e.g. it looks slow so he picks something that can outmaneuver it, but then it purges its armor).

Have a guy who's obsessed with speed, adds thrusters to everything, and paints his gunpla red for 3 times faster but keeps flying out of bounds.

A computer whiz who hacks the battle system to give his unit ridonkulous powers and change the field to a strange new one of his design.
Even though he's a cheater and that's bad, he's not portrayed in a completely negative light. The other characters can tell that he truly loves Gunpla because of the level of passion and creativity he put into his hax when there was no reason to do so (he could have just made a button that blows up the other Gunpla or something; there was certainly no need to model an entire new map). He ends up turning over a new leaf, and his skills catch the attention of the Gunpla Battle dev team who offer him a legit career.

OP here, thanks! I'm mostly looking for side characters/rivals, since I have I think the 3 mcs set. Should have specified setting as post-try.

Fencer/swordplay girl, Arrogant with tsun tendencies injured by accident, uses gunpla to compete by proxy, develops assim, uses motion capture controls. Drives a light, stripped down fast suit, Thinking 00, or quanta without shield.

Nemesis intern, barely noticed and is mostly bored with the busy work and reports he;s handed to proof read. Serious about winning to the point of being obnoxious about inefficient builds or sub optimal weapon loads Tries and eventually recruits other two to try out for nemesis as 3.Uses messala then other mobile armor.

gunpla nottwitch streamer personality fairly casual personality and generally plays to be flashy and entertaining first. Could be worked into gm guy, loves the dying genre of fps, has his srsmodesuit setup with loadout packs he swaps between. Has a funmode suit, of the schuzrum galluss with extra grappling anchors. Used mostly as comic relief and writing bits as segments of a stream is a nice break.

Tell me how shit this is.

What would be the ultimate counter for GN-drives is something filled to the brim with anti-GN cloud missiles, I think those were a thing. Obviously it's not GN-powered itself. Launches and immediately floods the whole arena with them, then purges the gazillion missile pods since they're dead weight.

Maybe take a Caliburn Raigo and add on the limbs from the AGE-1 Brocka.

That would get you a quick and nimble kendo-style unit, with the ability to mix in punches to catch an opponent by surprise. Plus you can switch out for the Speculum pack if you need flight.

It's mostly good for a fanfic. I wouldn't tell you to create a masterpiece, so just have fun, gunpla is freedom. I would say think about writing characters around how they would play off of each other moreso than as individuals. Operators and pilots are best when they have a duality or otherwise clearer cohesion, just look at Sei and Reiji or to a certain extent the Renato brothers for example. As this is post-Try, I would still suggest having duality and proper interaction between all three, which is probably more annoying to do. Speaking of Try,

I always so the detail=stats thing as meaning the more detail you add on top of tg he existing model the higher your stats (as a reward for the effort put into the gunpla) rather than detail already included on the kit.

Which could be why most people use hg kits for gunpla battle. They're usually structurally stable and make good bases for adding detail to.

Edgelord who constantly tries to show off how edgy he is but everyone points out how ridiculous he's acting. Tries to do shit like Kyrios or Arios pinching the models in half but has a kind heart deep down and can't do that to someone's gunpla.

not!Renato Jr. who uses a mobile armor filled with customized Drakens (from the Sniper II kit) to zerg swarm his enemies.

Scrawny teen who uses a dark red and gold Barbatos, rolling up to the party with various different axes and nothing else. Bets on immediately overwhelming an opponent from the word go and is highly predictable, but difficult to counter without proper countermeasures. Also a brown tsundere tomboy.

But, the next day, when she recounts the previous day’s battle to the boy, he only looks at him with a shocked expression. After some investigation, she finds out that the gunpla she was given was his ex gunpla. In fact, the ex gunpla was suppose to be destroyed.
Hijinks ensue as the two trying to get information from each other regarding the ex gunpla without revealing their darkest, most private secrets. In order to get the information they want, they decided who ever wins the next local tournament will have the loser reveal everything to the winner. While the two fight int heir respective brackets, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question whether LOVE CAN BLOOM ON THE BATTLEFIELD.

Part of the challenge here is to see if I can pull off any of them. If I find I can't then I can just drop those and go for gbf standard.

PlaMoba, Fun oneoff thing. One of the reasons I wanted to set it after try was the assumed prevalence of more game modes besides 1v1. I think gbf actually had more since try needed to do 3v3 to get everyone enough screen time.

In that case, give her a Wing Zero. Replace Buster Rifle with Buster Sword: I mean like the TBR crossed with 00 Raiser's swords so the handle rotates and it projects a blade along the underside to turn it into a sword while being able to turn back into a gun.

How about a guy who really enjoys Gunpla Battling, but his building skills leave something to be desired? Like, he's no snapfag, but he doesn't have much beyond the basics down, and he WANTS to improve.

Have him start off with a low-effort partswap kitbash with a unified paintjob, and subsequent appearances have him show how he's improved as a builder each time, with his Gunpla looking progressively better, until it looks like a whole new machine.

Have him see his Gunpla as his "Partner", like Fellini, for extra likability points.

Some guy who bought the 1/144 Neo Zeong, 1/144 Meteor unit, and the 1/144 Dendrobium and then taped the models together
