/m/ games on steam thread?
>>
Have you played Alien Isolation yet?

Working Joe is the best stand-in for the stock shambling zombie enemy archetype for survival horror. Never fuck around with androids ever.

>RUNNING CAUSES ACCIDENTS
>>
The ones I've played.

*Valken clones are games that play similarly to Assault Suits Valken/Cybernator on the SNES. Or Metal Warriors.

A.R.E.S. - twin-stick platformer where you control a robot that has to rescue/disable a space station. Or whatever. Controls pretty well, although some of actions really needed a separate button. /m/ content is very so-so. You can change your armor design on-the-fly (CTRL + T), but I think this doesn't really do anything (except if you have the DLC). Has a retarded "garbage collection" system to buy upgrades.

Armored Hunter GUNHOUND EX - from Dracue, it's a pretty good Valken clone that focuses more on fast action than positioning. Upgrades are usually marginal, like new weapons. It's pretty short.

Astebreed - it's a bullet hell, but with a few differences from the main formula, the main one being that the perspective changes at certain points, so sometimes you're fighting horizontally, other times vertically, and sometimes almost in a complete 3D environment. It's hard as hell even on Normal.

Gigantic Army - pretty barebones Valken clone, with a laughable story and very short. One thing of mention is the controls, that are really tight. Good game, but short.

Gun Metal - originally an XBOX title (I think). You play as a robot (Havoc suit) that can transform into a plane. It's sorta like a more open, but slower Armored Core. One pretty big con is that almost every mission is about doing a defend/escort/time limit objective, so if you just want to shoot stuff inconsequentially, stay away from this one. Also, the game floods you with upgraded weapons constantly, so by the end of the first half (the game has 14 missions), you'll have most of the endgame weapons. Some targets are obviously made to be fought with the plane mode, because the robot mode is slow as molasses.

This should be coming out next month on 3DS, in theory. Also, there's Astro Port stuff like Vulkaiser.
>>
>>14376476
I just bought this on gog, 2 bucks.
Also still waiting for more stuff on Nimbus Project and Perpetuum.
>>
Orbital Gear - a gravity-based space shooter. It's pretty simple, you fly and land around big rocks on space and try to kill your enemies. It's a strictly multiplayer game, of course.

Steel Strider - from the same makers as Gigantic Army. The main difference is that you can store weapons, and you use the mouse to aim. I didn't find it as entertaining as Gigantic Army. Also, this game supposedly bridges the developer's series all together (they also made Satazius, I think).

Supercharged Robot VULKAISER - another bullet hell. The game plays like a campy '70s mecha anime, so all the tropes are present. One thing I didn't like is that, since the screen scrolls horizontally, and the robot is also flying horizontally, it's difficult to gauge the robot's hitbox. The bullets only hit the chest, and there's a blinking light that was supposed to help you see the hitbox, but it doesn't appear everytime. You can combine VULKAISER with other mechs (each piloted by a stereotype), each gives you a different power and special move.

Supreme Commander/Supreme Commander Forged Alliance - an RTS. Your main unit is a humoungous mecha that serves as a "factory" for your other units. It can fight too, if necessary.
>>
>>14376575

isn't nimbus in development hell?
>>
Vulkaiser's cool, but Gigantic Army is my true love.

Sale starts later this week according to scuttlebutt?
>>
>>14376476
How's Brigador?
>>
>>14376607
It's sorta like the Desert Strike games. You play from an isometric perspective in an urban environment. The mechs are responsive, but the camera needs more work.
>>
Sunrider is "what if muv luv had a fun srpg aspect to it, but trash waifus"
>>
>>14376633
I really liked how the Sunrider (your battleship) was easily your strongest unit in that, with the mechas being more of support units than anything else.
Obviously still need to make a lot of use of them, being damn those heavy cannons on the ship felt good to use.
>>
how's mpc-g for grabbing games?
1605
>>
>>14376565
>Astebreed
>Hard on normal

The only difficult ennemy was the final boss, everything was else was fine since you can tank several shots and your health regen

Otherwise, Gigantic Army and Steel Strider are really good.

There's also Intrusion 2.

It the sequel of a free game, Intrusion, but there is litterally no story beyond "kill the bad guys". Hell, we only know that the villains are building weapons or wathever and they all have to die for that.
Very short (9 levels) but also very, very good. It's a 2D shooter where you uses your mouse to target. You'll spend most of your time on the ground but you can sometime control mechas. The most notable feature of this game is the fun pseudo-realistic physic though. It's pretty unique.

>>
>>14376565
Gun Metal isn't even remotely like Armored Core. It's more like a Macross ripoff.

>>14376814
Astebreed is strange because it's hard for curtainfire buffs and not that hard for people who play non-curtainfire STGs.
The patterns suggest it's a standard curtainfire game, but the hitbox is massive so you can't dodge normally. Instead, safety is derived from the sword's ability to cancel incoming fire and the absurd quantity of i-frames on the dash. Somebody with little curtainfire experience will catch on right away since they're not used ducking between bullets with a tiny hitbox, but a curtainfire player will have to forcibly readjust.

If space ships count, I also suggest the ALLTYNEX series. Fun little shmups. Story's kind of odd though.

I know, I regret it now. I wish the devs started to fix things instead of making new content that it's either shit or broken. How is Lunaro? I think I won't be playing until they make a huge update storywise, I'm pretty burned and mad at the game to even update it.

>>14379302
Wasn't the main point of the battle system taking out enemy by destroying their pilot seat? Why did they take that out? I haven't played since last summer possibly.

>>14379519
Oh not this game too. Why is it unplayable now? I remember trying it but my potato computer lagged a lot with it. It's a shame If it has turned unplayable or shit too because I remember it being interesting.
>>
>>14380244
>Why is it unplayable now?
The devs are basically scamming the players at this point. The only updates are either bugfixes done by the community or shitty "feature" nobody asked for. The few bugs they've fixed have been fixed by removing the feature that caused the bug. Performance has gotten worse and worse over time, with planets and netcode being basically non-functional.

The founder of the game played a live stream of his game. He kept complaining about lag, shitty physics, and the general state of the game. He also kept trying to walk through windows.
The only change as a result of this was making windows look like they'd been on the business end of a woodchipper.
>>
>>14379970
It depend. Another Age have the biggest number of mission but have litteraly no story or arena.
3 and Silent Line are equivalent I feel, with SL probably having more stuff since it's a sequel. Then you have Last Raven who's really hard but also pretty good and have branching paths. Finally there is Nexus but everytime I enter into a mission the frame rate dips between 80 and 90% so I've never played it.

I'll say go with 2 and work your way up. Hell, just emulate 1 and work your way up, althought you can skip Master of the Arena, who's just pretty average.
>>
Not strictly /m/ but but Faster than light is really good and hard too. It's about upgrading your ship and jumping to other sectors of the galaxy to fight a rebel mothership or something. It's one of those games where you lose everything if you die, I used to puy my friend's names on the pilots and it made it 10 times more dramatic when they died.
I played Alien swarm too, it's free but it's one of those games in which you have to communicate a little bit with your partners since it's co-op, unless you play alone. It's about shooting hordes of aliens and stuff.
If you like MOBAs or RTS games then you may like Airmech, it's about building your own units to take the enemy base while you pilot a transformer; I remember it being fun but I haven't played in a few years so it's possibly shit now, I don't know.
If you like physics based games you would like cortex command. It's about destroying the enemy brain by manipulating and buying other bodies and ordering them to attack, defend or mine for gold. It's pretty fun but the controls are a bit clunky and the campaign is like a limited sandbox mode, you can scan places to set up your base there and eventualy you take control of the planet.
Spiral knights felt a bit /m/ and it's free but I think it's kinda dead and I didn't play it that mucho so I can't tell you much about it.
Saint's Row 4 has /m/ elements too and It made me laugh pretty hard sometimes but if you played the third one you may find it repetitive. I found it a bit short too. Hope you like some of these games op.

Holy shit that hurt to read. It's pretty fucked up when the founder talks shit about his own game. I'm glad I never bought it. Did you follow that game? I can't imagine the frustration some player might suffer from seeing everything changing to worse at that scale.

I've been playing Red Faction: Guerrilla lately.
I really wish the mechs in it would spawn more though.

I'd love a new mecha game with Guerrilla's level of destruction.
>>
>>14380311
Oh I forgot about Homeworld. I haven't played it but a lot of people here seem to love it.
Chroma squad is for those who like sentai so go to that if you are into it.
Ikaruga, Galak-Z, Raiden IV for shoot'em ups. Axiom Verge for some metroidvania.
There is also a game called Space Colony if you like simulation and city building games. Instead of building an utopia you build a small space colony while defending from aliens and some other hazzards and while making a self-sustainable colony. You also have to manage the characters relationships and other needs like in the sims. The only problem I found it's that there is only one song so you will have "so gangsta so gangsta" stuck in your head for a while but that is a minor thing.
And if you like buggy games where a ton of content was left out you might like Spore. That fun will never come back to me...
>>
Is anyone else interested in No Man's Sky? I'm not committed to buying it yet since it has a lot to deliver on but I'm definitely keeping an eye on it.

Shadow Complex got ported to PC not too long ago, and more recently it made it to the Steam storefront after an initial debut on Epic's equivalent content delivery platform.

Only complaint I have is that one part of the game is like impossible to do without quitting and relaunching the game due to however UE3 goes about calculating moving objects when framerate isn't at the originally intended console standard 30fps; a jumping puzzle where you're supposed to ride a minecart and leap off of it mid-air would often result in the minecart just slipping from underneath your feet before it launches off the rails.

Hopefully it got fixed at some point but it was preeeeetty jank of the game to fuck up like that.

Because I have no one to play it with.

Brigador.

Fucking play it.
>>
In possibly relevant news, the 2016 summer sale has started.
>>
>>14392665
Also steam is dead.
>>
>>14392671
As it should be, now to find a way to kill the console stores too
>>
>>14392671
that's ok I have no money to spend anyway
>>
>>14392606
I'll play with you anon! If the devs ever make it more than local, that is.
>>
>>14392502
>Everything takes longer
Well fuck me, everything took almost a week to do before. I guess I'm glad I stopped playing.
>>
Regular Strike Suit Zero or Director's cut?
>>
>>14380347
>early access
As cool as this looks, I'll skip for now purely on principle.
>>
>>14397302
regular has mod support.

DC is 100% zero tech support.
>>
>>14397326
It's a feature complete beta, early access is just for bug testing and polish, the game is pretty much finished.

And it's a 6 hour long piece of shit with no content

the dev said he just put it in early access for bug work and for a wave clear mode, which he said should be done before the end of the steam sale

for the price its fuckin incredible.
>>
Is Sunrider any good?
>>
>>14387294
Yeah, the sale helps a little

Are there any good mecha games for Android?
>>
>>14379267
Correction, The game is officially dead. The creator ran out of money and has declared that the game is on hold (pretty much dead) as he can't find an environmental artist who wants to work for free.
He even went as far as to not even send in any e-mail announcement of the game being on "hold" as it's been at least more than a month since he announced it on his forum. Heck Matt Frank the main artist is already trying to distant himself from the game. The game is pretty much dead and the creator is pretty much just hiding out after his massive fail on measuring his budget.

clocked up 35 hours since launch. I love it
>>
>>14382214

The PC version is the best version. The additional mode and tweaks are much better, plus it kinda runs framey on the PS4.
>>
>>14397636
I didn't enioy it at all.
>>
>>14378382
God damn I love me some Cryptark.
I still haven't been able to get to the last few ships, but I've had a ton of fun playing it nonetheless. And the not-scopedog with only two hardpoints is the best suit.
>>
Is there anything that kinda resembles Gundam Breaker on pc?
>>
Is Galak-Z worth getting?
>>
For a Toku VN there's the Cho Dengeki Stryker all age version on Steam.
>>
>>14380347
The soundtrack is great. It and the gameplay remind me of Battlestar Galactica.
>>
>>14410202
I liked the game a bit repetitive. But if it looks interesting to you its worth playing.
>>
>>14384643
Technically it was a Battletech rip off game from the 1980s/90s.

Or was that CAV? I forget.
>>
>>14382386
I hear the wave-clear mode he's tinkering with for House is going to borrow some of the procedural stuff he originally made, so I'm pumped for that

I can't express how fucking cool this game feels to play
>>
>>14410135
Honestly in terms of very slightly similar 3rd person combat, SDGO is close in a few ways, too bad it's dead.
>>
>>14380347
I'm playing it with a Vive, it's fucking incredible. Great VR support and the very Homeworld feel make it a must at its current price point as far as I'm concerned.
>>
>>14411073
I mean of course Chromehounds was inspired by Mechwarrior/Battletech and CAV, but the models on the steam page look like rip straight from CH.
>>
Any giant robot games with VR support yet?
>>
>>14413099
Oh no, definitely.
