Considering how big the box is I think it's fine for a Koto kit. The first run Red Five that had extra weaponry was also 6000 yen aprox. Seems like this first run of Gold 4 will be the same case.

Anime Team Rabbit were most definitely the initial test batch to see if they'd make better soldiers without background memories, only relying on each other and their superiors.

Manga Team Rabbits have a more normalized setup, as you mentioned.

What's interesting though is that there's also some genetic differences. Both groups are from the same batch (remember they were iron womb babies created specifically to fight the Wulgaru), but different genetic markers were expressed on some level, such as Manga Tamaki being blonde and Manga Kei being black-haired. Manga Izuru himself is still related to Simon and Manga Asagi.

The only thing that throws this all off is the teachers, who are supposed to be the same people as the anime, but are very different. None of them are designer children either, which is what makes me question whether or not it's a parallel story or if the thing about the anime being divergent for possible failure reasons is true.
