I don't find any anime unnerving. At the end of the day, even if it works great for the show, I'm never really freaked out or a shiver never goes down my spine or feel uneasy getting through it. I think I'm just desensitized to a lot of this. I also think >>14358174 is wrong because the scenes are important (or just cool and gory) but I've never really been shaken or moved. I think the only time something has come close was actually Unit-01's devil scream during EoE, but that's more of a physical reaction (just a shiver down my spine) than a mental one.

The only way that the "joke" is funny is if you don't realize that it's on purpose. If you don't realize that it's on purpose then you've missed the subtext of the movie.

It's the only thing in recent years I found both genuinely off putting, and heart wrenching. Along with a touch of anger because that character didn't have to die that way. I still remember the sound of her spine snapping.

I really wanted to like R;N with all it's good ideas, but it turned out really disappointing. Between this,Frau Bow not winning the bowl despite being the best and most interesting character, how every character is completely irrelevant outside their own arc, and how the final fight falls into the trap of doing exactly what they tried to parody the whole show and yet still being completely unimpressive.

I'm probably also the only /m/en who actually disliked Aki. She's the type that gets swallowed by her passion.
