Seriously, all we can judge it on is the trailr and the mech designs since Nagano refuses to have Gothicmade released in any form other than sporadic theatrical releases.

Post-Gothicmade Nagano designs are trash though, and it's disgusting that Nagano retconned Mortar Headds into gothicmade mechs for no reason other than to shoehorn Gothicmade into the FSS plot

It says it's neither a garage kit or plastic model, and that it's something new that is supposed to be able to appeal to beginners and be fully poseable. Technically Volks hasn't even started designing it yet. Nagano also added the caveat that Volks may not be the only company to be making this figure, so Volks is saying that they're feeling the pressure because of potential competition. It may end up being something like that one time Arcadia released their new YF-19, and then Bandai countered with their own DX Chogokin version a year later.

So, I wonder if this means that Nagano is finally permitting other companies to have the FSS license, at least for this design? Would be interesting if he made amends with Bandai, or if some Dark Horse like Sen-ti-nel or 3A joins the fray.

It's from the Volks Hobby Round in December. The plastic models of KOG, Auge, and Vaiola were presented there as well.

It makes sense that the Kaiserin would be the one that gets a figure, since it's the lead mecha of its own movie after all. It also has the most detailed schematics out of all the Gothicmades seen so far.

I don't like the Gothicmades at all as designs, but I have to give Nagano credit where credit is due. Only someone like him would try to go so in-depth in the details and functionality for such a crazy and mind-boggling design. FSS is not really that confusing, it's just the way the manga jumps around that makes it confusing. If an anime were to be made, it would follow a long series of arcs:

Arc 1: Sopp and Viewlard rescuing Fatimas (which already exists as the '89 movie)

Arc 4: Rescuing Sopp with Jagd Mirage
Arc 5: Fillmore and Christine V

Some of these will be longer arcs than others, but for the most part it's something that can be finished in 10-15 years, which is pretty reasonable for such an insanely long series.

Mortar Headds are treated as both objects of power and status symbols, not just your run-of-the-mill military machine like a Mobile Suit. There's a mythical connotation to them in-universe. They're spoken of quite often in the manga, but don't actually show up as often to fight. Also, the same thing happened in the first FSS movie, so I don't know why this surprises anyone.
