Don't look at me. I'm not doing it. Besides, 720p doesn't exactly bode well for grainy old animation. Cel yeah since they're pure colours, but not grain unless filters are applied which I hate. I know you may not have space for my large size release but just delete after watching if that's the case.

Hahaha, so you do like Umi. Well, to each their own. I look forward to seeing how she will change later in the series. Right now she's very self centered and complains a lot, but I can see that she's trying very hard to work with the other two.

I like Fuu better because she is the steady emotional anchor of the team. I hope this will be challenged in future episodes, and I'm glad she's like this from the beginning. So many other shows rely on tedious interpersonal conflict for drama, so it's nice to have something different.

As for sarcasm, take your own medicine before you start selling it to others.

Magical girl shows from this era and the 80s tend to be adorable, yes (although series like Minky Momo and Wedding Peach only have even less /m/ stuff than MKR, if they have any). However, RPG Densetsu Hepoi has a similar approach to using its mechs (appearing for the big confrontations).

Also if you're looking for stuff that hits similar notes to MKR's cute magic girl stuff you might try Card Captor Sakura. Different thing but same group behind the original.

The show gets further from the comics then MKR does, similar to how (original) Sailor Moon used the comics more as an inspiration than doing a direct adaptation. Much like Sailor Moon I find them to usually be good choices.

So, I just finished S1. What now? Are there gonna be BD subs for season 2 (In said case, I'll wait for them), or should I get the DVD releases from Bakabt?

Like MKR? Not really. MKR was a combination of multiple genres and things while most magical girl shows are pretty standard. Don't think there's anything else like it. Unless somebody wants to correct me.

there's some stuff that riffs on RPG cliches, like Slayers, GuruGuru, lots of fantasy stuff is as much inspired by DnD and computer games as directly from Tolkien
the MKR mix of Magical Girl/RPG and a dash of robot is pretty unique
