Why is there a texas colony?
>>

Because there was a Mexico colony
>>
>>14307999
Themepark Colony in the making.

You know if Disneyland there would be a Colony Disney themepark
>>
>>14307999
Mexico needed a colony too.
>>
I think it was mentioned at some point that it was a normal colony that had its mirrors damaged in the opening stages of the war. The damaged made them reflect in more sunlight making the environment arid and desert-like.
>>
>You will never live in a spae colony filled with cute cowgirl ranchers
>>
all the colonies were themed.

Zeon's main one was classical european, with castle and shit.
>>
>>14309029
Hm, makes you wonder how Zeon would have played out depending on its colony's theme.

It was intended as a resort colony for tourists and the wealthy. Lots of grass and wide open "natural" spaces without big cities or urban areas around are not something people in colonies get to experiance a lot.

If Texas is so shitty, why do Californians keep moving there?
>>
>>14310833
Vanilla Coke is less expensive.
>>
>>14310833
Beaners feeling homesick but still wanting Uncle Sam's welfare.
>>
>>14310833
It's funny, those specific Californians you're referring to are wealthy business-owners like the Silicon Valley guys who aren't really 'moving' to Texas but rather opening branches of their companies in CHEAP, SHITTY states like Washington and Texas to operate out of.

I'm sure nobody will admit that but it's basically what happens when everyone flocks to the nice cities where rich people live. They drive up the price of living and force them to find another cheaper, shittier state to bless with their grace.
>>
>>14310894
>wealthy
>can't deal with increases in property value
>have to move
If you're forced out by price hikes, you aren't wealthy.

My second-hand knowledge of the Californian invasion of Texas is that many of them are conservative... by Californian standards. In Texas, however, they're devil-worshiping socialists, according to the locals. I'm affiliated with neither state, so it's not my problem.

>>14309367
>implying it isn't blue states willingly bending over for Mexico

>>14309621
If Texas is so horrible, then why are you liberal carpetbaggers constantly moving here?

It's because ever city and every state where your policies are in full force eventually turns to shit. New York, Mexifornia, New Jersey, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Illinois are just a few examples of run away debt, unemployment, poverty, failing schools, gang violence and other crime, gun control, and political correctness.

>>14310833
It's because they fucked up their own state with high taxation, sanctuary cities, gun control, and political correctness.

>>14310894
>wealthy business owners
>not entitled millennial hipsters

You idiots are obnoxiously delusional. Every place where liberal politics are in effect looks like shit. New York, Chicago, Detroit, LA; that's where all the poverty, unemployment, and gang violence is. Your tax and spend bullshit is why everything over there is so expensive and why you people continue to pour into my state, and because you're such delusional retards, you don't learn a damn thing and try to turn this state into the same mess your kind left behind.

It's your mess; you fucked it up, so stay there.
>>

Calm your progressive sperging. As "bigoted shitlord racist misogynist behavior" came to encompass everything that wasn't Sanders-tier leftism, people naturally reacted by going "no, you move." How deluded do you have to be to think that wanting to preserve one's rights and enforce US border laws is "miserably racist" and "generally awful?" What the hell makes you think people should "fear repercussion" for these views? What have you been smoking to think that /pol/ is capable of starting anything besides memes? >>14313771

Progressives started the alt-right when they got greedy and started labeling everything contrary to their views as bigotry. Everyone in the world knows the story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf, and here we're seeing it in action. Yell racist long enough, and eventually people will either stop caring or decide that being a little bit racist is normal, and then that word loses its power. The next time you're wondering why the guy from the Apprentice might be your next president, how this could possibly happen, look in the mirror. It happened because of you. Not /pol/'s shitposting, not because of covert memetic warfare, but because you overreached and tried to take the one thing Americans love most, their freedom. Enjoy the Trump presidency.

That is the biggest load of horseshit I have ever heard. California is a money pit.

And it isn't wealthy business owners moving from there, it's an army of upper, middle and lower middle class pukes who moves east after getting a semesters worth of credit hours to come out here for the weed and "dat live music scene bruh" (which is fucking dead because it's all people stopping in from other places to network and build hype and no locals playing) and bringing their idiotic beliefs with them. At least you can take them to the range and smoke them out afterwards turning them into libertardians instead of Sanders-tier communists.
>>
>>14314057
Yeah, budget surplus shit really doesn't matter at all when you're near a trillion in debt
>>
>>14313771
>But /pol/ pretty much started the current alt-right,
You don't have to be alt right to realize political correctness is cancer.

Several prominent critics of Progressiveness and political correctness like Bill Maher, Dave Rubin, Carl Benjamin, Pat Condell and the like are self identified liberals.

Political correctness simply isn't working. And people right, left and moderate are finally starting to point it out.
>>
>>14314070

This is the true shit right here. I was a massive borderline-progressive we-should-all-become-one-race liberal until a few years ago. Then you started seeing progressivism pop up and become mandatory everywhere. The Atheist+ thing was when I first started noticing it. I was a liberal because I thought people should be free, and the modern face of the movement has become anti-freedom and anti-expression and uses the language of oppression to cloak a thoroughly cynical self-serving agenda.

It mainly started in the north, but the cancer is spreading. The other parts of the state are still nice, but less populated, so when you start importing liberal douchebags en masse from DC they start fucking up the rest of the state.

The governor is the most prominent and worst example. Virginia's governor is a real trashbag right now, a really detestable Clinton hack who was a test-drive of the Hillary presidential election machine to see if their network was ready for the 2016 election. The Republican candidate, who was a great guy, was stabbed in the back mostly by his own party "leadership" because he beat their hand-picked faggot in their primary, so they sold out and wouldn't help him during the general election because he believed in shit like holding government accountable and ending cronyism, so all the big money cronies supported the scumbag Clinton Democrat.

That may be how the 2016 presidential election pans out as well. Polite sage cuz /pol/.

That is where political correctness goes. It is censorship. It silences those with "incorrect" opinions. And the further it goes, just having those views and voicing them becomes a crime.

>>14314146
Similar story for me. When I graduated in 08, I was almost one of those people. I was overly sensitive. I never shut down opinions, but I wasn't exactly open minded at the time. Looking back, I hate how ignorant I was.

One of the reasons I'm where I am now on the political spectrum because I've seen where this shit has gone and clearly is going. These 8 years have seen the growing issue of political correctness, which is giving rise to the SJWs and other shit.

And god damn, I do not want the US to end up where Europe is going. Its almost to the point of no return.
>>
>>14318100
>>14314146
And this is why I'm a paleoconservative. The idea that the President of the United States should be telling county and district-level schools/boards of education how they should be using their bathrooms is gross. The Constitution, as originally written, was very clear: anything NOT listed under the powers of the federal government was not the interest of the federal government, and it should stay out of it.

But I'm also young, and fed up with the old fucks in Washington DC. That's why I support Trump and Bernie.
>>
>>14309621

The American president has no real power to do anything without Congres or Senate.

Hell let's say Trump wins and the Republicans maintain majority in Congres: STILL nothing will be done for 8 years because State and local governments will fight him every step of the way. You can see this already with Obama.

The American system of government was purposely designed not to give anyone too much power.
>>
>>14318351

We're making /m/ great again with the help of America's Newtype, Donald Trump.
>>
>>14318451
>>14318413
We generally have like 9 candidates in presidential elections. Only 3 parties have ever gotten electoral votes though in the last 20 years.

If Trump is elected, federal and national law can actually change and be enforced, whereas under Obama it's not enforced and no changes can be made because Republicans refuse to give in to the President. Furthermore, the state and local challenges are generally filed when it's the federal government, under the executive branch, going in and trying to force states to do something that historically states have handled on their own. Most of the exceptions are in the areas of border control or civil rights enforcement, which are federal responsibilities that are being neglected on one hand and being expanded to hitherto unknown definitions on the other.

This is wrong.

Why? Putting America first is the duty of America's leader.

Not all of them. Texas for instance would gladly work with a Trump administration.

USA is built by white immigrants from everywhere in europe, including easter europe. You'll find basically any old world city has a new world namesake.

Funny how saying that would be considered racist now, despite being the truth. What a society we live in.

Nah, I'm actually buying property in Texas, Washington and Oregon because of how cheap you whores are :^)

Gonna turn out a massive profit and enjoy my stay here in lovely Los Angeles, the city you wish you could afford to live in.

>Are you literally retarded or something?
Sorry, but it looks like you're the retard here. Compared to my tiny 5,500 sq ft house in Orange County (nearly $800,000) any property around the same size would be a fraction of the price. Which is why I'm moving my socialist liberal gay jewish illegal mexican ass over there and buying a couple town homes to rent out to the locals :^)

>USA is built by white immigrants

The whole Louisiana purchase was colonized by black immigrant hands though.
>>
>>14318630
Immigrants =\= Settlers
>>
>>14318879
People often forget that the US was founded by colonial settlers, and that the majority of immigrants came later.

You still hear the "We are a nation of immigrants" though.

Why would I? Sanders is a terrible option. Socialism is something that has failed every single time its tried. It does not work and can never work.
People give Trump shit for not knowing anything, but ignore Sanders's lack of understanding on anything, especially economics.
Hell, hes not even President yet and his proposed $15 minimum wage is already destroying entry-level jobs.

So yes, I do want to Make America Great Again.

Look, I'm a simple guy, and I'll raise hell when the far left tries to fuck Hillary into a corner about PC and SJ issues, but right now I have one concern: who the fuck is going to keep Putin's shit in check? Fucker just does whatever he wants if we're not there to call him out on it.
>>
>>14320571
And what is Hillary gonna do when all Putin has to do to get her to back off is donate to her Foundation.

Seriously, the Clintons are MASSIVELY corrupt.

Putin is buying influence with politicians all throughout Yurop. Am I not to think he wouldn't try to do the same thing to another country just because there's more water between them?

Oh, wait millions of dollars worth of Russian dosh already flooded into the Clinton crime foundation coffers just as the Russians were maneuvering to buy uranium producing mines throughout the United States. A deal which had to be approved by the Secretary of State's office (Shillary Clinton), and none of the donations were reported or disclosed.
>>
>>14320571
Why do we need to keep Putin in check? The Cold War is over; or at least, it was over until Obama started fucking things up.

Trump is right on one thing: we don't need to be antagonistic with Russia anymore.
>>
>>14320717
Yes? A lot of European countries are socialist as fuck compared to the US, and they're able to function perfectly well.

The US is such a right-leaning nation, with Democrats and Republicans being rightwing and ridiculously rightwing as fuck respectively, that even a relative moderate with slight leftist leanings like Sanders looks like a super fucking commie in comparison.

tl;dr: Communism doesn't work, but America doesn't even know what real communism is.
>>
>>14320752
Those countries are only able to function well because we pay for their defense.
>>
>>14320717

All have virtually zero military expenditures because they can only exist under the aegis of the United States government, and they're turning into leftist hellholes where economic migrants have established little sharia pockets.
>>
>>14320890
it's okay, now they just don't let you read or talk about it online anymore there, so that solves the problem

Despite whatwe'd like to believe, a chunk of Eastern Europe has started kowtowing because they need the energy that Russia can provide cheaply for them.

With Germany screwing the EU on the financial side (this was before the refugee thing even showed up) many of those countries are turning back to Russia because at least it's keen on developing industry for its people (or at least that's what they project).

>>14320717
Not that guy, but they're incredibly homogenized, ethnically and in their zeitgeist, which I think has a huge deal in helping them to maintain their cooperative goals. Just an odd fun tidbit, Baltimore (a city) has a GDP (on PPP) of like ~170 billion. Sweden has a GDP (on PPP) of ~220. That's crazy when you consider that both "entities" have very socialist goals and administrative agendas. When you look at the demographic (well traditionally in Sweden's case) it really puts things in perspective. At least to me.
You could perhaps go back and look at some 80s and early 90s models of their economies and see that they had a lot more growth in that era before they (re)adopted the more socialist tendencies, but they've managed to err, manage their funds and stuff adequately up until now, so hey more power to them.
Big point I wanted to make was that homogeneity seems to go a long way towards benefiting a would-be socialist state.
Something the States do not have.

>>14320922

it's a pretty clear choice

We're not in a Cold War with Russia. We're in a very bizarre one with China, but our federal gov't., Congress included, made the wrong call.

As to why we should kep Russia in check? Not that I really agree, but arguments are because they're infringing on other nations' sovereignty.
I don't view Russia as a threat, but rather a great ally-in-waiting, but we do need to work on coaxing them into a less authoritative attitude.
As it happens, in the 90's, Russia made huge pushes to "westernize", but Bill Clinton and much of NATO rebuffed them really hard, and we know about Russia and its national pride. It's big, and they took it personally. Now do we need to ingratiate ourselves? Fuck no, but we should push for more amicable dialogue, but with that in mind.
>>
>>14320931
It's not a clear choice because you either have to choose getting raped by guys who fuck Reindeer or getting raped by guys who fuck goats.
Russians are just as disgusting as Mudslimes.
>>
>>14320950
What kind of Cold war are we in with China? And what bad call did Congress make?
>>
If you want to make the United States great again then you need to start conscripting people.
And I don't mean just bring back the draft but get abled body people into the military like many other nations do.
>>
>>14320957
>Russians are just as disgusting as Mudslimes.

So, China has been ding a lot of building of their military, while we haven't--which is fine cause as it stands, ours could curbstomb theirs. Problem is, we've been gutting ours during our futureization. Ufortunately, projections for those futureizings are not as good as they really need to be.
We've been cannibalizing old things to keep other old things working, like our aircraft and mechanized equipment, but with no apparent plan to replace the volume to adjust.

Our Joint Chief's are also something akin to navel gazers and have pushed the idiots in Congress to go along with these plans. I know there's a lot more complicated things about doctrine and tech that are way out of range for my knowledgeability, but recently the Pentagon released a report on China and how they're on track to surpass us in effectiveness and readiness.
I don't want to trivialize, but we have 11 carriers, which is a huge number, but we can only sail like 5 or 6 of them due to the fact we lack of materiel and staff. Sure this can be fixed with conscription, but that takes time.

On the other front, Congress and both our last three Presidents, really, have let China walk all around (not over) us on diplomatic issues. Like economic practices and such. I don't wanna get to pissy at them for the currency manipulation shit cause we taught them how and continue to give them the means, but we've been very lax in working with them to find an agreeable center ground.

Also, the artificial islands and how that affects maritime laws and critical shipping routes, but I have to go to a Cure concert so adieu my friends. Always, good to have a "civil" chat about these things.
>>
>>14320964

The Chinese communists are manufacturing islands in the middle of the sea and filling them with military assets to try to claim all of the South China Sea is their sovereign territory. I don't remember the exact figures, but an absurd amount of the entire world's tradeships sail through that region currently, and for China to just decide they get to call dibs on all of those millions of kilometers of open ocean and threaten war with anybody who calls them the scumbags they are is a huge threat to trade and peace on a global level.
>>
>>14321090
Just wanna add. As far as numbers and volume of a military force, bigger can be better, just so long as it's not bloated. Smaller isn't necessarily bad either, but it needs to be lean and tough. But in general, numbers win wars.
I'm not a spend everything on the military nut either, but I am a huge fan of efficient spending.
