Just finished Xenogears a week ago, debating whether I want to get a PS2 and do Xenosaga or skip to Xenoblade.

The main reason I'm thinking of skipping Xenosaga is the character design. Their faces look like the worst of that uncanny-valley PS2-anime style that I see in DOA4 FMVs or the first Stand Alone Complex OP. I definitely preferred Xenogears's generic mid-Nineties style.

I can believe that, and I can recognize the references to Xenogears characters in that image—looks like a Citan and a Maria on the right—but the end result is undeniably creepy-doll-like. I guess I should just be glad Xenogears wasn't developed five years later.

Look I'll admit that Xenogears was a blatantly unfinished game that had a lot of flaws but holy shit, who actually thinks XS as a whole is better?

XS is fun...for a while. Then you keep playing and at some point realize why you never finished the series in the first place.

XCX it took 110 hours to actually beat the main campaign, but I never got bored.

I keep thinking "should I go back and actually finish Episode 1"

But every time I just go ehhhhhhhh. Plus it's one of the most intensive games to emulate.

Never played Xenogears, unfortunately.
I thought Xenosaga Ep 1 was awesome. The OST is one of my favorite video game soundtracks.
Never finished Ep 2, but I hated the character designs and I thought the music was bland.
Ep 3 was alright, I think.

Ziggy and KOSMOS are the only badass ones, though most of their appeal was in Episode I.
Jin is ok, but out of place.
MOMO and Junior, bunch of emo kids, and Chaos isn't much different, just a bit more edgy.
Shion, so bland they changed her look entirely twice.

That's not really an argument.

The main draw of Xeno games is generally the plot. This also extends to Xenoblade and arguably to X as well, even if that's not what the developers intended in the latter's case. In Xenoblade, it is not necessary to complete the MMO bear-asses sidequests to progress with the story. They lack any value to the experience. In X, it generally is unnecessary as well, however there are numerous exceptions to that rule.

The problem is XB tended to keep me in one spot while I explored and did sidequests. The nice thing about XCX is that you can go almost anywhere if you want to and are good at jumping exploits, especially after you get your mech.

Either way, I have little desire to go back to XB for now. Especially since it lacked the themes that I was such a fan of in Xenogears. That and I already know everything that happens next in the plot anyway.

I generally liked the dub in XS1 and XS3, but there were a few VAs that got on my nerves. I really didn't care for Shion and Kosy's new VAs in XS2; I'm glad they brought back the original VAs in XS3.

Remember that the + does stand for 'and', so it's technically AEWaC, and from there just drop or slur the A to get the EWAC sound. Pluralize as needed, or remember that most people put a 'system' at the end of it anyway and save yourself some trouble.

Did you forget that the cast is huge outside of the playable characters? People run the gamut from crazy religious fanatics to people who play god? Jr. works because he's a foil to both Albedo and Nigredo. He doesn't work because he's really fucking cheesy at times. Momo starts out as an okay character and then sort of becomes a plot device but she's the key to Juli and Ziggy's growth as characters. Both are hardly Emo since Jr. is generically hotblooded but conflicted. Emo is Chaos but he's also the chillest guy in the cast. I have no Idea how you can dislike him. If anything Jin is one of the most underdeveloped characters since he basically acts like he's along for the ride and he has fewer connections to other characters.
