it felt out of place, they should have invested in making a figure of them instead of re-using the mazinger mold in the first place (sure in a business point of view, it was more profitable for them but still). the getter repaint was one of the first character themed repaints, and was annouced around getter's 40th anniversary, with no other new getter related merchandise on sight at the time (at least made by bandai), so it felt sad that as a way to celebrate the franchise they simply picked up a mazinger, painted it red and gave him shin's tomahawk. luckily the ova version of getter 1 was announced later.
same goes for devilman, a shame that they just made a repaint instead of making a figure of him.
the fact that they made both cyborg 009 and devilman as figuarts zero later pissed me a bit, what a fucking cocktease
