Gazu L and R have shoulder protrusions that match the upper half of the silhouette, but it doesn't fit because the silhouette has them on both the left and right sides..

unless it's gonna be a generic Gazu kit that has parts for both the L and R types and they mounted both of the shoulder protrusions to throw off guesses (probably very unlikely)

Obviously the exterior panels would need to be redone, but the overall proportions are great. The Alex's leg thruster units would accent it perfectly, and the frame itself looks quite thin. Those arms should accommodate the Alex's arm-vulcans wonderfully without bulking it too much. Hell, based on the armor purge detail they have here, the unit could even come with chobham armor.

Those are the stable, mass-production variants. They're finalized, ready for production and use by as many nameless redshirts as can be trained to use them.
However, due to production logistics, such a design may or may not actually make it to the "mass" part of mass-production.

People outside of 4chan generally don't stick to the entire franchise (in general, mind you), and are there for the anime of the season rather than Gundam and Gundam-related toys/crap. They'll have their fun and be gone from the inital product milking after the show is over save for some people who want to get deeper into Gundam.

Derringer says it's been a success, but as he's also shown us, that's mostly oriented around Gunpla sales as the metric.

I think as a series, IBO isn't going to be particularly memorable or liked in the future, but that doesn't mean it warrants cancellation (as much as I'd like that, since I want a different mechanical direction ASAP).

The whole production is kind of a mystery, though, because the musical chairs of shit-tier staff combined with what seems to be a low budget is Try-tier while the marketing is not quite as much but fairly close to 00-tier. That's technically the problem: the companies involved, Sunrise and Bandai, do not give three shits as to if what they put out is objectively good so long as it generates sales. A good series would help that, but it doesn't HAVE to, as we've seen with IBO.
The only reason they would stop making Gundam yearly is if it stopped generating more revenue than it took to produce.
As IBO's sales have shown, this cycle can sustainably still continue (i.e. make shit show for cheap, sell toys, make money). Gundam otaku are their own undoing if they wanted a good Gundam show to watch because they keep buying plastic from bad shows.

It was your average "manga strikes it big and gets an anime" dealio. Happens several times a season.

Howver, what was important about BPS was that due to several factors (its timeslot, it relatively tepid early episodes and general lack of anything holding viewer interest aside from the ecchi-loli-misunderstanding-kama-sutra-pose-of-the-episode, etc.) it very famously tanked so hard in ratings that it was pulled after very few episodes.

Very suddenly, by the last one or two episodes, the show was prefaced with a "sorry, but this is going to get cut very soon, thanks for watching!".

tl;dr It's a general metric for a show bombing so hard it gets pulled mid-season (although it doesn't necessarily imply anything about quality, since BPS was actually bad at all, just not great, but nothing to warrant the humiliation of mid-first-season cancellation).

A large problem I have with shonen is that I just can't give it the benefit of the doubt when it starts to take itself too seriously (e.g. Yugioh's making a card game suddenly a cornerstone of the world economy and global cultural phenomenon, or somehow some magic thingamabob in different shonen undifferentiatable from toys is somehow going to save the world via some lucky grade schoolers, etc.).

The arms on my Hyakuren suck. They shoulder armor gets in the way of lateral movements, and the exposed elbows have far more than is comfortable side-to-side play.
