You make it sound like Zeon was trying to pull a Quebec where they want to break away, but keep the currency of the nation they're seceding from.


As for the victim card, it was part of a larger plan since Side 3 was already independent, but like most small nations that declare independence, you need to be respected by the nation you break away from. This didn't happen between the US and Great Britain, where the Brits kept treating American like crap even after they lost the Revolutionary War, so the War of 1812 occurred.

Not him, but Garma is the only Zabi that actually accomplishes anything that turned out successful during the OYW with the invasion of Earth which allowed Zeon forces to gain a foothold on the planet. Hell, if it wasn't for Char's being a petty little shit, Garma's forces would have destroyed White Base and the Gundam.
