Not sure if it's intentional, but from Zeta thru CCA, you can see that the technological development involved stuffing the MS with more and larger equipment, leading to larger MS and MA.

The Exia, 00 Raiser, Astrays are all overdesigned, to name a few.
The ZZ is definitely NOT overdesigned

Literally my only problems with it are the forearm fins, and it loses those with FAZZ.

Honestly, other than some of the crazier Astray designs but not any of the base frames, nothing he listed is particularly overdesigned. 00 Raiser's not my favorite design by any means, but the 00 itself is quite basic and just slapping on shoulder wings when it already had stuff on the shoulders to begin with doesn't make it look like a clusterfuck or anything.

Meanwhile, ZZ has erratic splots of yellow all over it and things jutting out everywhere on top of being a fat brick. It's much more "overdesigned", not that I particularly feel like using that buzzword to describe it either.

Hoping Sentinel gets adapted you'll see what a brick that transforms into a different brick truly is.

It's not just the colors. Any decent looking rendition of the ZZ, including that lineart, modifies the original's proportions. The torso is made taller and thinner. The angles are made more square, reducing how triangular those chest vents are.

I wish the ZZ anime just stayed silly, it felt like Xabungle 2 for the first 15 or 20 episodes then it just turned into a shitty Gundam Z.
